Sorry, I did use all uppercase.

Btw, the launcher actually launch if i make a new wine prefix but after login, it just said "Please wait" for the longest time ever.
If I restart the client, the launcher launch and then crash. Tried it with multiple prefix already.

In unofficial russian fan-forum EVE Online they launched game using this (full hd resolution in example)

/usr/bin/wine explorer /desktop=eveA,1920x1080 evelauncher.exe --disable-web-gui

The also say, there's no reason to use /desktop, just wine evelauncher.exe --disable-web-gui

Hi Folks:

I wanted to chime in. What happened with me is that today of all days I decided to upgrade to Ubuntu 15.04. Ubuntu 15.04, in concert with what I had installed before, installed Wine-1.9.4 (Staging).

The upgrade finished and then tried to run EVE and the client crashed with a QtEngine error that others have mentioned and CCP Snorlax seems to have verified. I searched the web and google for solutions. I reinstalled winetricks, made sure that vcrun208 was installed, and disabled DirectX 10. Nothing worked.

Then I set Wine to use Windows XP and tried it. The launcher launched! The text that I read indicated that this would work, but the game would run slowly. I tried, and the game MIGHT have run slowly, but if it ran slowly, it certainly was only a tiny bit slowly.

I hated to have it set to Windows XP since CCP had killed support to it, and CCP Snorlax at one point had said that he had no idea how this worked at all.

The next time I launched the program a dialog box entitled "Server list - EVE Launcher" came up. The dialog box give login buttons for the servers that you have listed you want to log into, and as far as TQ is concerned they work.

The bottom of the dialog box has the text, "An exception occured while creating web GUI - failling back to server list view."

If I set the Wine emulation to Windows XP I get the GUI back. With anything else I get this "Server list - EVE Launcher."

Right now, my biggest question is - will the client upgrade in this mode? I'm not sure.

I am thrilled that CCP Snorlax is looking at this. We Linux folks don't have a better advocate. Thank you. If I can help with a log, or settings, let me know.

The upgrade process worked for me yesterday.

Adding XP,--disable-web-gui, QT_OPENGL works fine.

That's a bit vague...
Try launching the exefile alone to try to find the issue.

$ wine32 ~/.wine/drive_c/EVE/SharedCache/tq/bin/exefile.exe

You may have to feed it the /triPlatform=dx9 flag. (Is the launcher configured to run EVE with DX9?)

If it fails, it should give you more information as to why it actually did crash...

I don't know anything about way you installed EVE. Let's rock from beginning. You should install EVE in separate wineprefix and fill it with vcrun2013 and also enable msvcr120.dll If you cannot find vcrun2013,

WINEPREFIX="*your_prefix_EVE_installed*" winetricks vcrun2013

You should create qt_opengl register key with "desktop" flag. In winecfg check Windows version as XP. In EVE Launcher you must configure DirectX as DX9 not DX11. Some people install additional libraries for DX9 through Winetricks. I recommend install mscorefonts, d3dx9, vcrun2005, vcrun2008, vcrun2010 through winetricks. Then launch your launcher. If it's impossible try

WINEPREFIX="*your_prefix_EVE_installed*" wine ......../EVE/bin/exefile.exe /triPlatform=dx9

That should work. Good luck.

Folks:

I was in the middle of the "EVE Construct," having gotten there from the "server list" dialog box, when it booted me out saying that I had to download a patch for the launcher. With the Construct still running (I was doing PI in station so it didn't matter), the launcher was patched and it restarted with...the Graphical Launcher!

Many many thanks to CCP Snorlax and all the Devs in question. Your work is appreciated!

Ugh, unfortunately, mine still errors out unless I set it to Windows XP. For reference, I'm currently running wine 1.9.4 (with staging patches), and my launcher version is 1016420, GUI 1.887

CCP Snorlax, thank you very much for all your Linux support!

This is my setup. Debian jessie amd64. Wine 1.8-2~bpo8+1. Winecfg set to Windows 7.

With this evelauncher crashes, by adding --disable-webgui I get the "Server List - EVE Launcher"
and I get the good old exefile.exe launcher, login and presto I am online in EVE.

These is the command lines spawned by evelauncher itself.

ps -ef | grep eve

/bin/sh -e /usr/bin/wine C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\Launcher\evelauncher.exe --disable-web-gui
/bin/sh -e /usr/bin/wine C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\Launcher\evelauncher.exe --disable-web-gui
C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\Launcher\evelauncher.exe --disable-web-gui
/bin/sh -e /usr/bin/wine C:\users\Public\Application Data\CCP\EVE\SharedCache\tq\bin\exefile.exe /noconsole /server:tranquility /triPlatform=dx9 /settingsprofile=c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility
C:\users\Public\Application Data\CCP\EVE\SharedCache\tq\bin\exefile.exe /noconsole /server:tranquility /triPlatform=dx9 /settingsprofile=c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility

Open shared Cache Settings in your launcher and hit the Verify button. Takes a while, but helped a corp mate to get it running again. So probably some hickup with the shared cache.

Call me stupid (brain is not working today) where/how do I put this QT_OPENGL ?

cheers

Brains working again Idea

Winecfg removed all the redirects and set it to windows 7.
Reinstalled vcrun2013 with winetricks (it's the only thing installed with winetricks)

Started EVElauncher from the commandline:

env WINEPREFIX="/home/filip/.wine" wine C:\\Program\ Files\ \(x86\)\\CCP\\EVE\\Launcher\\evelauncher.exe

and yes there it was for the first time I saw the EVElauncher in al it's glory.
I am a very happy capsuleer now Big smile

Snorlax and others here thx.
