Its time again for "EVE is borring"...

So... i bumped the sun.... too many times.

The border for bumping the sun is at 8500km from the center of the sun (well the sun i bumped). You get tossed out at a pretty high speed and you fly aprox. 800000km to 3000000km out from the sun. I tried from frigs to carrier to check if it was the mass that decided how far you get bumped out... until i accidentally hit the MWD n arrival to the bumppoint.

So i changed my approach and landed 100km outside the bumpborder and hit the MWD to gain max speed.

Conclusions is; the speed you have when "hitting" the sun, is key on how far you get bumped. I tried it With a frig fitted With a 50MN digital rocketbooster, giving me a speed about 8k ms... bumping me almost 3mill km out and a speed well above 6-700mill ms.

I really wanna try lighting a cyno and jump in caps, motherships or even a titan.... just to see how they bump... but cyno in sun is as far as i know... an exploit.

BTW i will try more different fits to see if that alters how far i get bumped and the speed i get. (Gotta try With a higgs rig just to see how double mass on same ship changes result.

Usually i would **** all over CCP for their lack of physic-laws in this game, but the sunbumping makes it somewhat better XD for now :D

If you got any experience how to screw sunbumping up or get wierd result, please share... im borrred!!

PS. If we drove/jumped many many titans into the sun, could we make the sun implode and generate a black hole? XD

Ever heard the phrase "like moths to a flame"? Well, this is almost the same but just down right silly. It's a star, not a lightbulb or a mining barge. Stop bumping it!

What CCP needs to add is AoE thermal damage for standing close to a star.

Ill stop bumping it when CCP makes it dangoures... which they wont since many jumps goes thru the sun, ergo damaging innocent players :D

And im kinda innocent... :D

Only 8k m/s? Try dramiel, boosters, and implants.
I can get nearly 10k k/s just with fit and two implants. Cap stable.

I wonder how many grids you activate per server tick at those speeds.

If you want silly speeds, set a bookmark inside the sun, and warp to that.

If its an exploit on TQ you could petition CCP to see if itd be fine on Sisi and then try it there... you know for "educational" purposes. :D

Id also think that a higgs might not work well cuz of the speed decrease to the ship is too high. But thats just a guess on my part. Being bored and breaking things can be terribly fun and incredibly weird ways of finding things that will work in fringe cases in real world application settings.

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

Actually there's at least 1 or 2 youtube videos of people doing this. I've done it myself with a dreadnaught in siege and you get flying to insane speeds. Very entertaining. You can also get a good amount of speed by changing the pos password while in siege and going flying.

You asked for it. Suns and other Celestials.

Also: In my attempts I got as close as a little further than 300km from the sun's bracket. You can tell that from the tactical overview in some of the videos.

ive tried being inside planets and moons..... about that... i would like to attach a long curly tail on my pod and fly into a gas planet and pregnate it....

Anyways..... i Wonder if there are binary systems in EVE... if so... in theory... get bumped by one sun into the other sun... making it pinball sun bumping.
But there is also a slight chance that if you enter in correct angel, you can get bounced back and forth betwene those 2 suns never getting out.... good Luck on probing out that ship.

For what it's worth, it isn't the speed that matters, but the mass of your ship. Activating a 50MN (or even a 10MN) adds 5 mil in mass to your ship, and on a frig, that's a huge amount (several times the mass that the frig is normally).

If I ever get into capital ships, one of the first things I'll do, just for the fun of it, is go on SISI, get a sun cyno, and siege or triage with a Higgs rig and as many mass-increasing mods as I can (capital armor plates, Higgs rig, capital AB or MWD, etc).

This OP is evidence someone has far too much time on his hands. I recommend a hobby of some sort, which involves going outside and holding a tool. Also, volunteer work where one might have to talk to someone (besides shouting upstairs to ones mother for another bowl of Ramen).

Of course, a look at that all-important report card, or employment evaluation, might be first in order.

Came expecting nothing. Left feeling prophetic.

Mom? Is that you?

Is my ramen done yet? I'm getting hungry and the leftover pizza is almost gone.

Mom?!

you can light cynos inside the bump spot of the sun, so that your capitals will get launched out at uncatchable speeds =)
