Flac or HQ Mp3 soundtrack can I haz?

Flac = best
HQ Mp3 = 320 kbps

Possibly updated too, the only decent thing I found over the internet is a 6yo torrent but at least it's a good mp3 rip. Stuff from soundcloud is 160 kbps, other stuff you find in other repositories varies from 50-ish to 128 kbps. It'd also be good to have at least the "official soundtrack" with proper tagging and available for download as a unique file but man! even as 74 different files without tagging wouldn't be nothing.

And yes, EVE has sound.

What stereophonic audiometric synthesising and analogus reproduction equipment do you have? If at any point you have a 3.5mm jack or stereo RCA connection in your audio chain you do not need any better than about 192kbps.

If brute force isn't working, you're just not using enough.

Please Note: Any advice given comes with the caveat that nothing will be suitable for every situation.

You're using a 3.5mm audio cable aren't you?

If you want to improve the quality of your sound you need a digital audio optical cable, believe me swapping from analogue to that you can genuinely hear a difference even on a crappy 128kbps mp3.

I understand that according to the "believe Moonlit Raid on the EVE-O' forums" the world should dump the industry of HQ music and lossless compression formats down the drain but I'll try to reword it just for you: it's not what I asked.

Moonlit Raid is trolling, everything he said is complete rubbish.

AFAIK there are no proper high quality recent versions of the EVE OST available. The best you can do is try to get a response from CCP RealX, either here or on social media.

There was a CD released in 2004, which will at least contain some of the music you want, but you might have trouble getting hold of a copy: https://www.discogs.com/Jon-Hallur-Haraldsson-Eve-Online-Original-Soundtrack/release/3740189

I found something newer by Jon Hallur Haraldsson called "Breath of The Universe", published in 2011, which basically is a selection of tracks from the OST. That's the only thing available as FLAC I've found.

The main point of the request is that it could be done in a matter of 30 minutes flat, including 5 minutes for a coffee break, 10 more for a cigarette and 5 to go back and forth from the desk to the coffee machine and outside for the smoke.

I mean, seriously:

1- Open foobar
2- Add files
3- Source your files (CD or folder) then CTRL+A, then OPEN
4- Select "convert as FLAC"
5- Go for coffee break and come back 5 mins later
6a (optional)- Once back CTRL+A the converted files and check the tagging
6b- Upload to soundcloud or other proprietary domain
7- Go for a smoke
8- Link url here or it didn't happen
9- Receive Kudos

I'm sure nobody would call any of that wasted dev time.

So you're telling me you can't hear a difference when you swap out your analogue audio cable to a digital optical cable with music playing? I did it once just out of curiosity and have never used analogue audio since because of the VERY obvious difference in fidelity.

If brute force isn't working, you're just not using enough.

To send a good quality analog sound to your music device of choice you need a good quality DAC(300usd and up) so that exclude 99% of ppl your shiny iPhone cant your comp with integrated sound or supa duppa sound blaster gti 9000601 external sound card can't and rest of your gadgets cant do as well.

Otherwise analog or digital is a matter of choice and ability of equipement.

Using optical to hook up 30 bucks 5.1 to listen anything will sound worse than dying cats.

I have parts of the old songs collected - http://dl.eve-files.com/media/corp/OTHER/ccp_addtl_soundpack.zip - However they are not up to your 320kbit standard as most of them are 128.

There are as far as I know never been any official release from CCP by the songs in any format. So your quest for 320 or flac will doubtfully lead to anything new until CCP takes upon themselves to create a proper release of things - which I deem highly unlikely to happen.

That 2013 EVE Symphony disc is pretty darn good.

Sucks to be them. iBasso DX80 landed few days ago and I'm just stunned by all the sounds I never heard in all these years of "yeah who needs 192 kbps anyway"? Tried with Miners Stories yesterday (320 kbps mp3, not even flac) and man, that's quite a whole new song.

I think I have those. They are part of the only torrent available, the 6yo 320 kbps one and probably anoher one too. Anyway I didn't think about that but you are the perfect one to lead this project to sucess. So you're in charge now Big smile

That's what I mean. Not only we have an original soundtrack of a whopping 74 songs, some of which are objectively amazing, but CCP also spent so much effort to make a symphony out of it, they even published and sold a phisycal CD but nope! they won't host FLAC files for sell anywhere nor release the OST in an official and quality checked repository. That's pretty weird to me.

It probably will. But optical will still sound much better than analogue.

I'm just jumping in here to say, forget MP3 @ 320 kbps and FLAC. OPUS is the future.

Just read this: https://www.reddit.com/r/audiophile/comments/2x79dq/why_opus_is_my_new_compression_format_of_choice/

And this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opus_%28audio_format%29

And here you can even listen to some sound samples: https://auphonic.com/blog/2012/09/26/opus-revolutionary-open-audio-codec-podcasts-and-internet-audio/

Here is a list of my current EVE / PVP videos:

2: Clash of the Empires

3: Suddenly Spaceships fighting in Tama

I'm NO audiophile, even if I "read stuff", but this is the very first time I hear of that format and the links you provided are quite old. Also, the fact that a DAP with that very name doesn't support that format speaks volumes (literally) to me. Anyway the new kid on the block for audiophile's quality level (which by the way has nothing to do with "good for internet streaming", perhaps the contrary) is surely DSD.

Basically all the business around digital music is how to convert a wave into a bunch of 0 and 1, and how to play it back in a way that doesn't make your ears bleed. In a CD (generally considered high quality) a snapshot of a wavelenght is taken 44.100 times a second and each of those snapshots is an array of 16 bits and it describes an approximation of the wavelenght in that very instant. Sounds pretty accurate right? Wrong! DSD can take that snapshot up to 2.822.400 times per second but the array is reduced to a single bit, 1 means incresing 0 means decresing. It's basically the most accurate way a digital stream can describe a wave, only topping up the frequency of the snapshots, which for sure will be topped up as hardware evolves.
