I was curious, so I reupped my subscription.

Novel that, subscribing to an online game. Anyway I'm not sure I want to pay again next month. I've dug through the forums, the comments seem to be largely the same. So before you all ask for my stuff, no you can't have it. I'm amused that the Battleships I bought for 70mil could now be sold for over 200.

Can anyone tell me about new content? I see there are some kind of space zombies or something, evil Jove...? What's up with that?

Nulsec seems to be just how I left it, there are some ships I don't recognize.

Walking in stations, clearly nothing has changed. I always wanted to open a bar, *shrug* ah well.

What has kept those of you still playing, playing? I found an old friend, that was fun. Is there some amazing new content I didn't previously know of? Or is it just the game that was, only now you can buy custom skins for your space ships?

We can't have your stuff, but you've subscribed so you can post and ask us for our stuff (the work required to summarize everything for you).

The fact there's no other sandbox mmo with as much sand in it, oh and spaceships.

The latest changes can be found here on Eve update. I don't know if you are aware of this page? You can go back and forward in time by the arrows and look at the latest and future updates.

Info on the space zombies

Otherwise specify what you like doing in EVE, and someone might know a specific change that has happened to that area.

What keeps me playing (only for a couple of years so far though), is the ability to affect and interact with other players, even when I don't feel like it. I like that when I am tired, not focussed or screws up I loose stuff. Keeps it fresh.

Can I have your SP?

When you don't know the difference between there, their, and they're, you come across as being so uneducated that your viewpoint can be safely dismissed. The literate is unlikely to learn much from the illiterate.

I play because I like to have my own spaceship and fly it around the galaxy, doing things that spaceship pilots do.

-Lots of ship balancing and smallish quality of life improvements.
-Some would say dumbing down of features (ex. Scanning interface and Industry rewrite) which removed some role specialization.
-Changes for Jump Fatigue and Fozziesov which were designed to break up the big blue donut in null-sec, but has had the side effect of making null feel empty & low-sec more active.
-Big changes coming to capitals and citidels this spring+. New content is promised after that on the roadmap.
-High-sec carebearing made more safe.
-Skill point trading just happened so we'll have to see if it is a net positive for the game.

Forums are overall less salty, but much less activity. Reddit has picked up some of the slack.

Playing because it takes a long time to try everything in Eve.

Thanks,

Player interaction, space ships, those had me hooked for a long time. Both dwindled. For a while I was really excited about the WIS and flying in atmosphere, and such, it looks like those ideas died. I have to say the little captain's cabin blows my mind. We were told over and over that capsuleers were gods of this time, wealthy beyond imagination, but then we got a crappy closet and absurdly expensive eyewear. Space paupers was more like it.

I have to say I am disappointed with the graphics. They seem to be right where I left them. I saw a thread, perhaps I should sign it.

Really what I was looking for was something here to make me want to play. Right now I want to want to play, which is not the same thing at all. EVE is cool, but is it $15/month cool? I'm into EVE for about a grand, but over the course of years. I don't regret a dime, but I have to compare this to whatever else I might buy and the opportunity cost is sadly high.

I'll putter around for the rest of my month.

Is the "new camera" the reason it seems so skittery now? I was using my D scan the other night to see who was nearby and holding the little ship alt icon over a distant group was absurdly more finicky than I recall. Right click menus also opened up some weird not my ship view..... That needs to never happen again, I'm sure there is a setting, I just haven't narrowed it down yet.

Anyway I'm glad many of you are having fun. Getting back on helped me bump into an old friend, who I have on Steam now so that is cool.

Disappointed with the graphics? Where they were when you left them? You mean, like the best graphics and visual effects of any game? Is that what you mean by "where you left them"?

Yes, it is the same old stuff, just more of it, and more deeper... and more wider...

Like wormholes, for example, a whole new class of content. The ship tree has gotten a lot more complex and sophisticated.

This isn't like WOW where "new content" just means pandas or a different boss fight. The gameplay actually evolves.

As far as the inflation is concerned, it is pretty tame. Going from 70M to 200M in 10 years is a lot better than the Federal Reserve is doing.

Droidster,

Ow, looks like I hit a nerve. Best graphics of any game? When was the last time you played another game? The graphics seem to be pretty much right where I left them the last time I checked in, which was three years ago, ish. I was particularly impressed with how dull all the Amarr structures seem now. I recall golden citadels in the sky, but some of that may be fond memories, old screen shots are pretty pixelated. (Have you seen the thread about a high end texture pack that is not yet released?)

In any case the view that got me to come back was one of the CCP advertisement movies which was clearly Jita, but looked nearly photo realistic. So I logged in, and I see what I remember from before, same folding turrets, same gold skins.

We had wormholes when I left. They were ok. some folks really liked them. Except for a few ships, I don't see new systems have been added, so we got the drone regions and WH space in pretty short order, then what? Did they open access to the Jove sector? I'm happy to find out I'm wrong, I'm just not seeing it.

I see some new ships, and new cap stuff and new citadels for the folks what build them. I don't doubt gameplay evolves, I started with active tanks, then moved on to passive ones, it looked like active was trying to make a comeback did that stick?

I love how even all these years later people on this forum compare EVE to WOW. nuff said there I think.

As for inflation, that's more like a 4 or 5 year shift, and that would be about 70% inflation. The Fed keeps things to 3% on average. Maybe take an econ class eh?

I spent most of my days pissing people off, so I'm not really surprised I've rubbed a few people here the wrong way. Perhaps you think it's presumptuous of me to pass judgment on EVE. I wonder what you think someone would have to have in there resume to be allowed to do so, perhaps you don't think anyone anywhere should.

For me, I'll be splitting my time, Space Engineers fails miserably to capture the scope of EVE, but I can build whatever I want and land on the planets, so that's something. MWO has big stompie robots and I can get a fight whenever I want one. EVE will give me a stuff in space fix for another 20 some odd days, maybe I'll find something fantastic that I haven't seen and buy more time. Maybe not. If you wanted to sell me on the game though you are failing. I get that you really like the game, but I don't think you have a realistic appreciation for the competition. I would put EVE graphics as roughly on par with STO. EVE has better ship models, but the STO skins change as you take damage. EVE has better long range vistas, it feels like space, I love the distance combat can occur at, but STO has something to do outside or even inside of the ships. It also lets me play for free.

If EVE went to a FTP model, (I'm sure that's heresy eh?) I'd probably spend a lot more time here. I don't know what they would tempt me with for microtransactions though.

At any rate, I like EVE. I have many, many fond memories of playing. I just don't know if there are more memories worth making here. If you are having fun, then I am happy for you. No need to get touchy or defensive. They have been saying "EVE is dying" since at least 2003 when I started. We had an EVE is dying thread at least once a week all through 2012 when I stopped paying attention. I'm sure there will be threads about it long after those of you I've upset have moved on as well.

Too many changes along the way to summarize them, I'd think. If you start a new char and run through the tutorials for a while you might see quite a few new things. Also?

-Goons changed from being rude boys Stalinists into respectable soldier-citizens of the Imperium.

-CODE. (New Order of Halaima, something like that) miner-freighter gankers are the new nasties/snarkies. They've got an operation rolling, seem to be harvesting good high sec isk on a daily basis. But currently overshadowed by....

-Blue funk by many new and old codgers about the introduction of an SP-trading/buying feature.

-Little patches of mold growing here and there, about how official EVE forums are recently have about as much content as a newspaper color advertising insert. Seems the discussion moved over to the kitchen party in Reddit. Will CCP move it back to the hi-fi stereo living room, or establish a hipster presence in the chatty scene? You make the call.

Anyway, many changes mate, I'd recommend touring the tutorials so you don't miss anything. It's so easy to come back and go back to what you were doing before, and never know what else is out there.

The people. If you're just looking for a game, there are better options, pretty much anything new on Steam. Budget $20/ month

.

The same happens in EVE. Take a cheap catalyst (as it looks awesome when being damaged), fly somewhere with npcs and let them get you to hull before you jump out, you will see then.

Some of the time because I enjoy the game, some of the time, force of habit.

I have always paid by annual sub, so even if real life takes precedent for a while, I am still in the game.
