Can I be in a corp if i'm real-world busy?

Hello,

I'm a new player and I'd like to participate in a corporation after I get a few skills / ISK up. The problem is that I’m a college student and can only dedicate a few irregular hours here-and-there to EvE. I'd be OK with logging in at certain times and doing as much coordination as I can but I typically can't afford to be on EvE more than 4~12 hours a week depending on how much homework I have...

How do corporations deal with real world schedules? (If they want to get a huge fleet together, do they just say "who can log in at 6PM GMT" and take who they can get?).

Are there some corporations which are "loosely bound" (aka player A has a scouting role, logs in, marks asteroid locations, logs out, then player B comes in logs in, sees a new location has been marked, and mines at his/her convenience?)

Talk to the CEO. Let him/her know your situation. Unless you're dealing with teenagers it shouldn't be a problem.

Don't worry at all, Caesar! What to do is first to decide how you would like to spend the game time you have. Make a list of activities you enjoy and another of ones you want to try. Consider whether you want to play in high or low/null/w-space. Also consider whether you enjoy being on comms with people for chats.

Once you're ready, find a casual corporation that fits your primary needs (the activities that you like to do) and dabbles in some of the activities you'd like to try. The corp search interface in-game is ok, but you'll also find advertisements on the forums here (corporation and alliance recruitment section)

Eve is a game. Enjoy it!

But use the game to let off steam after killing those exams.

I been at this nearly 10 years. So much other stuff has been done in that time it's too much to list. But I never "won" Eve, and never will. But there's no "winning RL" either. Much fun was had anyway in either case.

most of the people i've met in this game are RL busy people.

i can't even play decently for a couple of weeks now because of work. Cry

I can recommend

A Band Apart

They have corporations that cover most playsyles in EvE (from HS Industry to LS Pirates to WH). The dominat rule there is that RL comes first.
