Greyscale did it with Albion and that game has more players than eve. This could be the solution. No more risk averse pinch pinch

Its quite possible that Albion Online has more players than eve because it is also available on more platforms than Eve. If Eve were available on PC, Mac, Android, and Linux, and fully supported (and advertised) for those platforms I'm betting we'd see an increase in users. Simply saying the lack of "local chat" in a game makes it better than Eve and would "fix" the game is a bit short-sighted.

Wow... I just successfully sounded like an ass! First time on the forums! I've truly graduated to bitter-vet status :)

This would solve risk aversion and get rid of a lot of botting. 2 thumbs up!!

While I agree with the premise, the reasoning is flawed.

I'm torn. I dislike the intel local gives, but also want to troll this thread. What do I do?

Quote from Albion Online's site:
Quote:
Need a break from fighting for your life, but still want to support your guild? Retire to your own private island off the coast of Albion and build and maintain a farm, including crops and animals, with a whole new set of buildings. Generate food to fuel your guild’s war efforts, or even just sell on the market for a profit!

We do not have that in EVE. This obsoletes your reasoning for local removal and leaves nothing but an inarticulate rant behind.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

Constellation chat rather than system local would make a nice difference. You still know who is in your vicinity but not 'exactly' where they are as a result. WH's obviously would keep their current system since WH's aren't linked the same way.
Constellation chat would also make EVE feel busier since you would almost never be alone in local, and it would also stop all the 3rd party botlike apps that give you a sound ping and the like when someone new enters local (by scanning for new text in the local window or however).

Sigh at the thinly veiled anti-cloaky camp thread....

If there are 0 methods for interacting with and detecting cloaked ships, either with D-scan or probing... then the npc operations that communicate with every ship in system and provide up to date communcation logs to and from everyone in system should not be able to detect cloaked ships. NOR PROVIDE THEM WITH DATA.

Ergo: Activating a cloak should disconnect you from local. You cannot be seen, nor can you see anyone in local. Gatecloak should also count for this.

Or, there should be some way to locate cloaked ships after a long and time consuming process.

Sure it does. There are only 10 players in EVE ATM, everyone else is an alt.

That is a great idea for getting new people into EVE. The best way to get people into player corporations is to never have to talk to them first.
If only there was a place in not New Eden where there was no local and still everyone was so risk averse that removing content was a much better way to deal with one boat and then complain in the forums they don't find content.

New orbital platforms are supposed to provide one-way local intel. In theory.

Bad idea with bad reasoning. Typical "remove local" thread.

Make faction war occupancy pvp instead of pve https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=53815&#post53815

WoW has much more player than EVE so we should copy exactly all it does. I want to respawn with my belongings every time I get shot. Instanced content becomes the only real way of progressing from now on too. The market also becomes sell order only.

Yeah, copying other games because they have more player is a sure way to improve the game.
