I know i may get trolled for this but i'm a Bitter old Vet . I would Like to see Scaleable Things weather it be Items (Skills, Ships, Implants ECT.) Things that you can only earn when you get to Certain SP LVLS... These Itmes Could not be Sold on the open market but could be destroyed. i think this would Propel Old vets to stay around longer and possibly help with retention. Now i'm not asking for a "I WIN" button but things that could be Very valueable. There would have to be a Choice made between which item you would get to accomidate Playing styles. the mechanics are there ... The redeem Items at the Log-in screen the choice can be made ...

how about no?
now, im still relatively new to EvE, but ive been around the MMO block more then once (okay i currently only have about 27 MMOs on my comp, but i SWEAR i used to ahve more!) but even I have learned that NO ITEM that can bestow even a slight advantage should EVER be given out for free, epecially to only a few players at once, in fact, just HEARING about how older players have these "mythical awesome gears" would actually drive MANY players away who would automaticaly jump to the conclusion that these are uncompetable i-win buttons, regardless of whether or not they truly are. Your proposal is made worse by the fact that you propose the inability for market trading, meaning these items would be outside the sandbox and unattainable by players who do not receive the magical mystery giftbox from CCP. Also how do you reason with "giving a one time choice between the items to facilitate play styles", considering that NO player EVER spends ALL his time in 1 play style?

in short, i believe this idea is unnecessary adn actually has the potential to give newbies the false dea that older players HAVE i-win buttons that they will enver get because they are just new, which would cause many of them to nto even try, which is the ANI-THESIS to the entire point of the proposal.

in short of the short, potential for more harm then good, whether by actual ingame performance or a false preconeived notion of mature player immortality in the eyes of those it is supposed to help retain.



also, if these items are auto-trigered, they would eb highly farmable....
get enough SP, claim item, undock with no clone, die, retrain, reclaim.

nope bad idea. if you are looking for rewards for subbing like pretty much all mmos do, then free sp for every 12 months of sub time is the way to go.

Average subscription time length, accord to official CCP stats, is 6 month. After those 6- month olds hear of your gold items, it will be down to 3 month.Lol

You young whipper-snappers just want everything. >:} Bittervet you say. Heh...

Seriously though, the game favors older players and it should. High SP, well placed, means access to equipment. It also means near instant access to new ships. A well rounded character means more feasible skill attribute focusing. We have the advantage of our knowledge of the game as well.

That said, there should me no magic reward for a certain, generic SP amount other than a more expensive clone.

As long as the rewards stay esthetic only and does'nt give any advantage whatsoever, i dont mind. You know, like those clothes you can buy for your characters? Reminds of TF2 without the guns, of course, since they are reusable in there, unlike Eve Online. But having a hat or not does'nt give any advantage in the game.

I know there are some exeptions, but Valve said they will never do that again, because of similar outrages, on the forums, to what CCP experienced, last year.

i would be totaly down with this if the idea didnt mess with mechanics and ballance such as players with old toons should get to use a ship generator some sort click button and now your malestrom looks like it had mutated with a megathron and so you have chosen to fly a maelstrom and thats what your flying but to the graphics it loocks like a new hybrid design!
get this option like at 50 million skill points

or maybe click a button and your ship gets random paint scheem
get this option at 20 mill sp

or maybe build your own ship.... at 100 mill sp you can get s ship generation tool that allows you to first pick a hull class then you can random design the hull so it looks unique then useing a ccp ballanced pick and choose system you can say i want tracing bonus and damage bonus
or i want to use traking bonus and optimal range bonus
or i want to use shild boos bonus and ship resistance bonus
and so on and so forth it uses the basic mods available to the ship class your try to use

Top hats on the NeX (is it nex or next?) store for all toons over 50 million SP. Top hats can only be worn by characters with over 50m SP, although they can be bought and sold by younger characters.

Also, to be introduced later for >70m SP characters, monocles. Not the crappy borg implant ones we have now, proper English gentleman ******* monocles.
