Hi Guys and Girls(If such a thing exist on eve),

I'm look into training into a T3 Tactical destroyer .

How ever i was told it is seriously underpowered and will not win against many ships and i should consider training for one of the others.
Trouble is all my skills points are in Missiles and don't want to train a new weapon type. So should i find a new missile boat to train for?

Edit: I will mainly solo pvp with it.

The Jackdaw is only underpowered when looking at its Minmatar counterpart, the seriously overpowered Svipul. And even then, some Jackdaw fits can fight the Svipul menace quite effectively.

While you are training towards the jackdaw, there are also some very decent solo pvp missile ships on the way: the Caldari Navy Hookbill (Caldari Frigate skill), and the Hawk (Assault Ships skill, requires a bit of sidetracking).

Feel free to ask for fits and tactics if you feel you need some tips.

I've used a jackdaw with a reasonable amount of success. Check my kb for fits(I've lost a bunch), and you can formulate your own opinion on the ship.

Its pretty **** compared to other t3ds. That doesnt make it a bad ship though, compared to other non t3d ships it still is fairly good.

But train for the confessor or svipul, doesnt really take long.

So the Jackdaw may be subpar, it still gives you a reasonable amount - and probably more, more immediately, than the Svipul would.
Train it, play with it, learn mode-switching strategies and so forth and have fun.
Perhaps while you're doing that you can diversify towards the Confessor, the laser skills will take some time but they feed in to other ships you're probably going to want access to eventually, ships like the Stratios (which will need yet more stuff (primarily drones but...)).

How does a Hecate stack up vs the Svipul or confessor?

I've been told hecate is the worst. Just sit at 0 on beacons in ss mode with OH prop mod and act like you're a catalyst on pcp.

Otherwise probably not the strongest choice and only really good for bait or super hard tackle at the sub-cruiser size.

That Svipuls and Confessors are the only two T3Ds listed amongst 'Top Ships' on zkill should tell you something.

Thats too bad, I really like the design.. But I guess it boils down to it's complete lack of range with blasters , or lack of dps with rails..

Its quite good for roaming about and catching things, i use it for that and i have a blast flying it, needs to be hull tanked thoughBlink

The flying stick is a good ranged ship (30-60km+) and will effectively hit EVERYTHING you shoot at with LMLs. Not so much a solo ship because of this, but for fleet/group support it is superb. It is generally slow though, compared to the other T3Ds.

PVE it is really a mini-Tengu and I find it surpasses all the other T3Ds in tank/damage application. You can do most L3 missions, and DED 4/10s if you are patient and use your range and damage-type missiles effectively.
