A new class of battleships

I think it would be interesting to see a new class of battleships similar to the Attack Battlecruisers already in play. I was given the idea for this while playing around with fittings for the Talos. Instead of pg/cpu reductions for Large turret weaponry, they could get similar reductions for Capital class weapons. Particularly with high angle weapons batteries coming soon I feel this would make some very interesting and fun things possible, especially with large scale engagements and small gangs tackling capital ships.

What would be the point - from a gameplay perspective - apart from being a bit of fun?

It sounds like you're asking what role they would play. Massive damage application on a non-capital hull? Structure bashing (particularly in c2, c3 and c4 wormholes) and fast capital ship destruction come to mind. If they took a page from the Attack Battlecruisers they'd have paper armor, so would be the yang to the ultra tanked Marauder's yin. Other than that players would figure out uses for them if they existed.

Reminds me too much of a bastard child between Dreads and Marauders...

Other than that, my response is no just because you didn't explain why we would ever need anything like this.

This has been brought up and shot down several times for various reasons. Lower class wh bashing by larger groups being a big one in the wh community. The gist of the no way argument is that if it's a lot of work to bash low class wh structures then you need to roll your sleeves up and get to it. Basically all the lower class wh children would be easily isolated w/ hole control and slaughtered. The wisdom being that if you wonk all the lower class wh, no one would progress up through the ranks to the higher class wh.

Overall structure bashing (though tedious and not very fun) is balanced across HS/LS/NULL/wh (by class). Your mini dread would wreak havoc on that balance.

Once citadels are in place and they get tuned (defensively) to where they need to be, then might be the appropriate time to try to get mini dreads in the game. On the eve of a major change to structures isn't the right time. Try back in a year or two.

Seems like a fair and impartial assessment. Thank you.

There might be a need for it with citadels but as it is now, no.

EvE-Mail me if you need anything.

Gimmie the opposite.

Battleship platforms bonused to use smaller weapons.

Large escorts specialized in AA duties?

Anyway, imagine a BB roam with one or two of the battleships being an anti-frigate/-destroyer/-drone platform.

PS Actually... I think this might be best for BC hulls, but the concept's still sane.

Here's my question, and this is a serious question, not a troll, but have any of you supporting this asinine idea ever actually flown a dread? Without siege module turned on, I can get better dps out of a battleship than a dread.

Exactly this.

And your micro dread would barely be able to track a moon, let alone something that's actually moving.

Attack Battleships with sub-capital citadel sized weapons. Count me in. Twisted
