Hi, just getting back into the game. Was wondering if being in FW I will receive a negative security status if i attack a neutral entering a FW site. Because I just usually avoid neutrals for that reason.

Yes.

Unless you engage every ship you see, it really shouldn't be an issue and doesn't take long to rat that sec status back.

You also have the option of buying/ratting sec tags and turning them in at Concord stations to raise your sec status back up if it is too much trouble to rat. Running a few plexes should provide plenty of isk to buy the tags for engaging somewhere around 50 neutrals.

Okay cool, about how much security status do you lose for attacking a neutral?

This is really old (2007) :

The formula for a security status loss is:
current_security_status + (10 + current_security_status) x security_status_loss = new_security_status
As an example, if you currently have -1.5 security status and you pod someone (-12.5%)
-1.5 + (10 + -1.5) x -0.125 = -2.5625 (will show as -2.563)
The penalty for aggression is -0.5%, ship kill is -2.0% and giving the podding is -12.5%.

This seems to indicate it changed but I couldn't find a breakdown of how the formula is affected. Seems you also need to add both player's sec status into the equation as well.

Go ahead and test it, post your results and I will reimburse you for the tags. You are at .3 right now, see how many neutrals you can attack before you get to -2. (this is the sec status where it starts to matter) Try not to kill any rats so you don't get any increases and don't pod anyone.

i pvp a lot in FW space and have to fix my sec status around every 14 days to stay above -5. I usually avoid podding neutrals because most of the pods are empty anyway these days and the sec hit for podding is huge.

we tried to convince ccp to make fw plexes free for all zones without sec hits but sadly ccp does not work on FW so that won't happen any time soon.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

You lose a bit of sec, but unless you're spending all day killing neuts, it shouldn't affect you much. Avoid podding, and mix up FW plexing with a bit of belt ratting to keep your sec up (purely focus on killing battleships, or better yet, clones).

This is just the nonsense the uninformed will spew at you. They don't understand the life of a Privateer, but thats ok, you can live with their judgements. But can they live after you blow their ship out from under them?

Completely tank your sec status and go full pirate and just never bother with highsec again.

Yes, unfortunately you do lose security status for attacking neutrals. :-(

Yeah I was gonna say. Having to only sell and buy in low sec you would be broke in no time.

at first, maybe, since i was never was. the thing is, FW meta is mostly frigs, dessies and cruisers which with proper fit can only go up to 20-30M for cruisers, 1-10M for frigs and dessie, so it should be relativlely cheap.

some people do FW level 5 missions in which, i heard, is very lucrative.

i personally do PI, we own the POCOs so no tax, and we have corp frieghter services that greatly helps in increasing the profits.

Have they changed it so when a neutral comes into a plex, it flags them so you can engage freely? Or is that still a thought?

I hated FW cause I always seemed to find neutrals or pirates coming at me, and not my actual enemy. Then I just said to hell with it and started shooting everyone. Got to -6.2 sec status and held it there with ratting, but it just got old.

If you shoot and kill a ship, the security hit isn't that much. What hurts is popping the pod...
