Also. If I try to shrink it sideways. The minimum size is where the accounts take up 50% of the width. It's a launcher. Please.Sad

What about adding an icon in the windows notification area, when the launcher is minimized, which pops a menu displaying just the account names and the "play" button ?

Forgive me for not reading/searching through all 9 pages but is there a way to save a specific profile to a specific account.

What I mean is I am attempting to run two clients, Ive got them each set up differently but when I log onto the launcher, one profile must always be switched to a different profile before launching the game. If there isn't a way (currently) to save a profile to an account, could that em something that is considered?

Ok, so I finally managed to log in 4 accounts again. It's still slow and sometimes doesn't want to work (blackscreen), but it is significantly better.

I went to the launcher and used the tool to verify the cache. The surprising thing about it was, when it finished, it showed that I had 70k+ extra files (out of ~140k). Later when j ran it again, it no longer used the 140 as a starting number, but was around 68k files. I have no idea what it means or how it happened, but I'm guessing that's what fixed it. Will update if more issues pop up.

so far I like the new launcher a lot. downloaded it yesterday and had no problems. not even with steam. i could uninstal my eve online files from steam and just use the files from sahred resource cache (i think it was called like that). both logins are working. either i download the launcher from steam which updates the launcher and logs me in or I just use the new account name i could set up :)
logging in multiple chars etc. was working fine until now.

great job

I cannot make it work under Wine 1.9.1 on a Mac. It just hangs throws a ton of errors. Some feedback:

1. There should be a separate web page to send people to in order to update their launcher the current page gives the appearance that you are re-downloading the entire game. This should be considered a bug and should be fixed.

2. The launcher asks to install itself into C:\EVE which is against windows standards instead of where Eve traditionally goes in C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\ . This is confusing, and make people try to manually repoint it to their Eve directory and force it to install over the old one. There are many posts about this. This is a bug and should be fixed, not explained by a dev in the forums. Anything you have to explain about installation and upgrade is a BUG. Not a feature.

3. The launcher comes up and asks to copy a profile over. You drag the profile to the right window. No further feedback is given and there is a blank blue box with an X and some drop downs.

That is where my system hangs on it completely.

The old launcher is still working, so I will not be going to the new launcher. IMO, the new launcher is still a beta until:

1. The old launcher self-upgrades to the new one
2. The new launcher does not appear to require redownload of the entire game. (many people are on metered connections and a re-download is undesirable)
3. The new launcher does not ask to be installed somewhere outside of standards
4. The new launcher does not try to move itself two or three directories up and to the left for no reason
5. The new launcher does not give feedback or visual information about what it is doing.

An eve installation is a huge download and wiping it out and starting over is stressful. Users are going to try to avoid that.

Update: Annnnnnnd my entire installation is broken. I have to start from scratch. Apparently the new launcher was copying tons of files while it was unresponsive, and I killed it during that and broke everything. :( It should probably give a visual indication that there is an operation in progress.

The UI when a network problem causes a timeout is incomplete and could be improved. Now, it does not give the user a message about what is wrong. See screenshot.

Hello,

I tried the new launcher and it is missing the "Autoplay" and "Close launcher when EVE starts" checkboxes that the old one has. Those two are really convenient for me, can we please get them back? I'm still using the old launcher because of it. I get that people want the new features, but these old ones were really great. Not having them is making the new launcher undesirable for people that aren't using the new features. Given that they are checkboxes that are off by default in the old launcher, can we see them reimplemented?

The new launcher allows for a selection of settings file to use. What settings do these files contain? I've tried using them to match up some things between accounts, but it seems random of what stuff is carried over and what is not.

Neocom layout, chat tabs, graphics settings, all seem to have off effects. I even got Aura trying to give me the tutorial when I selected a settings file that should be setup already.

At the moment it's really only graphics and audio settings - this will change in the near future.

Launcher being sneaky

So far I've had a good experience with this new launcher, way better than the first version.

My only problem so far is that this one is downloading files and patching seemingly even when it shows 'Ready' after a patch had already been visibly downloaded and installed - and it doesn't disclose how much data its pulling/ percentage etc. You can only see it via looking at network usage, and in the taskbar icon (which shows the download progressing in green as most other browsers do). Its a nitpick, but I'd like to know what this thing is doing fully at all times, since I have to watch my data usage due to data caps etc.

If you see a green progress bar after Tranquility is shown as ready, it is downloading data for the test servers, Singularity and Duality. You can go to settings and disable the test servers if you need to minimize data usage.

Dear CCP,

as with the beta version the new launcher crashes on start.

I'm running on OS X 10.7.5. The old launcher runs perfectly.

So, maybe I'm doing something wrong:

1) I downloaded the launcher from the link you provided in the first post.
2) Gatekeeper is off.
3) Unpack the dmg file
4) Drag&drop the launcher to /Applications
5) Double click the icon
6) crash "EVE Launcher quits unexpectedly"

When I start the launcher from the command line I get:

eimc:~ tc: /Applications/EVE/EVE\ Launcher.app/Contents/MacOS/evelauncher
Segmentation fault: 11
eimc:~ tc:

As you can see my EVE installation resides in a subdirectory of /Applications.

I filed a bug report (EBR-60836) but it was closed because OS X 10.7 is not supported
anymore (according to the bug report). However, the download page says OS X 10.7.5 and above! Shocked

Can you please elaborate on this?

Thanks and kind regards,
Tass

Oh great!
Now you changed the OS X version number on the download page to 10.9 And not a word was spoken in the last 24 hours.

What do you think I am thinking now?

Best regards,

This was touched on earlier.

The launcher is downloading in the background, its visual status shows that it is ready and launches clients perfectly (does not show any visual sign that it is downloading something.) Please note due to a slow internet connection I have download everything selected and all client files are downloaded. When the launcher has my internet maxed out my clients barely work due to bandwidth issues, therefore I have to quit the launcher to stop it downloading once the clients are running.

I am taking a stab in the dark here but is it downloading data for test server maybe?

If we could have a status bar for the background process so at least we can see what its doing or if its not critical data (it must not be) give the option to pause it.

Other than that great work!

I have a question concerning the new launcher.

Is it possible to just update the launcher or does the installation of the new launcher require a complete re-install of the full EVE-client? If the latter is the case, I will be hesitant to make the install as long as the old launcher is still working.

Futhermore, a guide how to install the new launcher would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

You can download it from here Download Eve

This is the new launcher. You do not require a complete fresh install, just download from above link and install it (the new launcher). You should be prompted to import your settings across and you are right to go!

I just logged in and found two red blocks partially covering things I would otherwise have wanted to see telling me that my login was no good. I logged into both accounts and the red blocks didn't leave. I hovered over them and saw now X, so I minimized the launcher and then refocused it. Still red blocks reminding me that I had at some point had invalidated logins. So I clicked on them. They went away.

Now I know to click on obtrusive notices to make them go away. Fine enough, but can you make it so that when something tells me to correct an issue, and I correct it, that it stops telling me to correct the issue that I've already addressed?

Keep up the good work. The old launcher is so bad.

Something that has pissed me off lately. It seems when I start the launcher and there's an eve update. It will cause the launcher window to not appear while updating. So for a few minuites it will be hidden, eating CPU and memory until it finally popups in the "Copying files" stage.

If the launcher is already open when the update occurs (I leave it open overnight), all is fine.

I installed the launcher and client fresh on a new machine and they work great. I liked the new launcher and tried installing it on another machine that already had an older version of the launcher installed. The install appears to finish, the final dialog comes up with the run now box checked, I click Finish and the dialog goes away, then nothing. Task Manager shows evelauncher.exe running with around 5MB of memory and no CPU or other activity. I have left it this way for hours and no difference. I uninstalled and removed all of the Eve related folders I could and tried repeatedly with the same results every time. I am running Windows 10.

I end up with C:\EVE containing a Launcher folder with the Launcher files and folders under it. A SharedCache folder that is empty. And 7 other files in the root of this folder. The folder C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\Launcher has launcherlog-*.txt files that are 0 length.

What other information can I supply to help troubleshoot this?
