Drone Compounds -- ? still viable ?

Going through Corp hangers, I came across some Drone Compounds of yesteryear.

I know, of course, that the slippery little blighters now keep their compounds to themselves, but do the harvested ones still count for anything other than refining ?
Or should I just refine them and have done ?

Please Note: Answers such as "No -- they're worthless -- please deliver them to me at [Station] and I will trash them for you" will be treated like the Jita ISK-doublers.

Thank you all, in anticipation of your sage advice.

I've not found a use for them other than reprocessing. Though you might want to check some of the buy orders down in Domain to see if what you have is worth selling intact.

Same here.

There are a few places that still drop these beauties though, unless CCP has removed them all finally. Lower level missions and other places that had only a few here and there as drops still were spawning them after the changes but that was already along time ago. They were in such low quantities that it wouldnt be an issue anyway.

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

so forgive me for my lack of knowledge ( i havent had an active account in a while) drones no longer drop compounds? Do they drop anything or have bounties? or did CCP make them 100% useless? I was wondering why the price of minerals shot up. Noticed that you get hit kind of hard now on reprocessing and im guessing no drone compounds either?

Sometimes you are the squirrel and sometimes you are the nut. Today, you are the nut and the squirrel is hungry.

And a lot of the rats drop one unit of Metal Scraps, or nothing at all, rather than "junk" modules like they used to.

So yes, a number of changes made for the purpose of reducing the amounts of minerals produced from non-mining PVE, which resulted in mineral price increases.

No, drones no longer drop compounds.
No, they don't drop anything, but yes, they do have bounties now.
No, not 100% useless. Not... quite.

With the repro changes introduced a while ago (one year? two? time flies) you get more minerals but then the waste is also higher. Which, in theory, means that overall repro value should stay about the same.

In theory.

Collection, mostly. They serve no real practical function any more since their main source, loot tables, have been silenced and they offer nothing you can't get elsewhere. You can still run across the occasional compound drop from structures in RD missions and more rarely complexes, but none of them are really worth running to begin with anyways, and you only get one at a time when it happens.

Fortunately, the fact that the common value of loot and salvage going so far south over the years it's not even funny anymore has done little to hurting Rogue Drones, though that's hardly a good thing either. Between the RD turning into a **** NPC group with below average bounties and salvage and no loot, and the fact that the EoM have had a bigger presence awarded to them as a SKIN than an actual faction in Eve (they are in literally two missions total), New Eden has some odd question marks where some NPC's are concerned.

If you have any spare compounds saved up, I'd only worry about hanging on to them if you want to keep them for old time sake. They are not likely to be the wisest investment to sell for later as they are not likely to ever go up in price and, like I said, you can get the minerals from so many other sources and in great quantities. They're like your Xbox's account's gamer score: absolutely worthless other than maybe bragging rights if anyone actually gave a care. In the mean time, if you don't wish to sell or burn them, tuck them somewhere in a station or corp hanger and forget about them. Maybe one day, you'll happen to run across them randomly and, having remembered you saved some, have a pleasant surprise for like five seconds. Could put a smile on your face if you're having a particularly rouge day.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

Yes, I sometimes spell incorrectly or use improper grammar. Sue me.
