This suggestion applies to racial jammers. What does everyone think of having a mod for jamming that utilizes racial scripts that's swappable on the fly? For example, think of how the Sensor Booster mod uses range and tracking scripts that can be swapped on the fly in space. Imagine you are in a situation where you have a Caldari Racial script fitted but a Hurricane jumps in and engages you. If you happen to be carrying a Minmatar racial script, you could swap the script and proceed to jam.

Perhaps this idea could be applied to a specific ship like the Kitsune as opposed to all the others?

Let me apologize ahead of time if this has already been discussed (if so, please link thread... thanks)

What I am looking for is a discussion on:
Balancing this idea if it's overpowered
How it can be applied to other races
Other similar ideas where a script could replace a current mod
Any other constructive criticism (good or bad)

I'd be okay with racial scripts on multispectrals, with the caveat that T2 multis never have more than 65% (maybe lower) the strength potential of T2 race specific modules.

People are sorta scared of ECM; which is why they like the idea that the guy wiith it, might not be prepared for them. Either way it's very hard to fit an ECM ship to counter all 4 factions; so the counter is obviously to bring all 4 factions ships to the fight. Then, if there is ECM; you can be pretty sure you got it beat.

Personally like the idea. We could get rid of racial ECM all-together, and standardize the ECM module. Make it carry a script, while having a base strength, range, and the like; and create scripts for strength, as well as 2 to 3 scripts for other things.

ECM need to be completely reworked anyway, as it's definitely OP in many respects, and absolutely useless in others. Removing Faction specific Sesor Strength and the like might be a good start too.

Technically speaking, the definition of those sensor types indicates that some of these ships have 19th century sensor suites in them, with equivalent deficiencies and weakness.

Some of them wouldn't even function over any great distance; while being subject to solar flares and other astronomical phenomena that would shut them down completely. A bit silly if you think about it.

One of the few things that's keeping ECM in check is the racial requirement. There aren't many other ships that can dictate the course of a fight as ECM. Even the very fact that the first priority in any skirmish is to get ECM off the field means that resources are diverted away from other potential targets. Honestly, I don't really see the need to increase the viability or versatility of ECM, it's right on the cusp of being overpowered already.

This would be fine, but you would probably need to reduce the number of mid slots on the ecm boats as they have the extra slots now to carry mutiple racial jammers, with scripts they could reduce their module numbers to 2 0r 3 at most. Mind you these are still shield tanking ships and the option to fit a small tank or a point if you want to try a little pew pew in your recon would not be unwelcome so you don't need to get rid of all the midslots just reduce them a little.

Hate ECM almost as much as I hate the Caldari, but I like the increased complexity to that system.

i prefer the racial ECM's, adds some complexity to the game. Maybe if the multi specs had a mod that can boost range idk. Boosting ECM stuff now can be annoying. lol imagine a 20 man Rook fleet lol

instant dial in ecm would be imba.

fine as is. falcon is set grav/ladar sucks if riding that drake/cane train but nice if you take the brutix out for a spin. makes it a game for all. didn't bring enough racials for the party and they burn through the multispecs...way it goes.


Or if you want same performance on a multispec ecm that bad.....buy officer fitting multispecs. just mere points off the full blown racials. People have run these. made a crew called vivicide widows fun to meet up with from what I hear.
