HICs...whose idea was it

to let them shut down mwd's now? Like, who sat there and thought "hey, lets take a super tanky cruiser, and give it the ability to warp scramble up to 37.5km (or even 40km)" ?

Seems to me there is a high probability given the words of the 1st post of this thread that someone recently found themselves scrambled by a HIC.

Seems equally likely that if this did occur, the poster in question knows not of ECM, ECM drones, target lock breakers (for certain ships) are any of the myriad others tools the game has he cold have used against a scramming HIC...not to mention the strongest weapon if "don't let a HIC scram you in the 1st place".

Nope, not really. You're thinking of HACs. HICs are kinda meh.

very simple.

you want to either

  • outtank the HIC,
  • outDPS the HIC, or
  • outnumber the HIC

Huh, I don't use em but the guys who do that I've flown with said for tank, they'd prefer t1 cruisers. I'll have to take a look myself now. So conflict, many confuses.

I'll say this much too, if this is true, then they probably need a nerf to their tank. T2 are supposed to be specialised, and giving a heavy interdictor a better than than a HAC, ie something specialised for catching stuff for the fleet, is akin to giving an interceptor a better tank than an assault frigate. IMO. Balance and all that, seems whack to me if they're getting better tanks than HACs.

90k EHP isn't hard to achieve with Broadsword or Onyx. That kind of buffer also comes with a huge passive regen, too.

Also, note that I was flying a destroyer on this occasion. So tanking him, outdps'ing him, ecm'ing him, etc. were not exactly options that I had.

Well you'll get that with any cruiser if you're in a destroyer really, unless it's really really bad, or you're in a t3d. Dual web and scram on a dual rep vexor will knock your socks clean off.

Wasn't trying to fight him, just wanted to get away. I probably could have gatecrashed, but I tried to burn out of his bubble instead. HICs can fit more than one bubble, though, so that didn't work.

I think HICs were strong already, and are now even stronger, but the scrambling capability just seems too much. Why would I fly a Lachesis, for instance? I could take an Onyx, and have a ship that has 80k+ EHP with a 200dps regen, can scramble to almost 40km, and do 500+ dps with RLML.

What?! HICs are designed to fly into the heart of an enemy fleet and pin down supers. That pisses the enemy fleet off quite a bit, so they are given, and deserve, a heavy tank.

I'm undecided on the mega-range scram though. Needs longer testing.

Lachesis has dscan immunity. But imo - it could use some love. OTH I love hics - kitty little ships flitting around are annoying.

That's all I'm saying. I realize the importance of HIC's to large scale battles, so the tank and infinipoint and all is great. I just think the long range scram effect is over the top.

Try being on the receiving end, though. Flying small ships is becoming increasingly difficult, and speed is usually the only thing we've got on our side to stay alive...being able to be scrammed from almost 40km is just another thing on top of the long webs, long neuts, drones, RLML's, etc.

Heck, even Big Miker just said in his video (free plug for Ferocious 8.0!) that all he's been flying is his Nightmare because of the HIC changes.
