Why isnt "hauling" a recognized career in EVE?

Hauling is a big part of EVE, yet there are no certificates for it and it is not recognized as a bonfide career choice in EVE.
No hauling specific skills either.

Hauling is more than just moving cargo. There is alot of prep involved especially when moving through low/null.

Haulers need more representaion in EVE.

Can you get qualifications for breathing? No, it's just part of life and you get on and do it.

Hauling in EVE is just the same, don't expext to be rewarded for it.

tbh I'd just be happy for lvl 4/5 missions that get you to carry freighter loads across empire. why do they stop at stuff that needs a basic indy when a combat mission scales in difficulty until you need a hundred million ISK ship with T2 fittings.

Same can be said for "harvesting", "navigation" and other "just breathing" career choices. Yet there are certificates for them.

Really? My primary career is as a hauler. I fly contracts, hauling crap for people from one end of New Eden to the other. I enjoy that, because I can sit down with a glass of wine, a book and warp to 0 all the time. It satisfies me. Thus far, I've found a number of skills that make me more effective.

Apart from the various Spaceship Command based skills, such as the Industrial ones and the Freighter ones there are the Tech II Industrial skills required. You know, the kind of skills you need if you want to do Blockade Running or others.

Then, you can combine that with a modest amount of production and Planetary Interaction to help in manufacturing because hey, we know flying empty is lost income, right? And then, there are Courier missions. Fairly simple and an easy way to build up standing for the Industrialist. But then your Social skills come into play as well.

Just broaden your horizons. Hauling, as a career, is great.

The thing is: At its most basic level, "hauling" involves simply placing something in a cargo hold and moving it from Point A to Point B. Since a newly created character can do this easily, it makes little or no sense to have a straightforward "hauling" certificate.

There's very little need to have "advanced hauling" certificates for DSTs, BRs, freighters or JFs. If you can fly them, you're qualified to haul in them. The main differences once you're minimally qualified boil down to agility, align time, warp strength, cloaking capability, and tank. Existing certifications already cover all of that.

Also, lol@ people giving a damn about certificates.

Do you guys really need a certificate after this?

EVE's very own Statue of Chribberty has spoken, that's all the certification any reasonable person could want.

If I was runing a hauling corp, I woul look at certificates so a pilot could meet minimum requirments in my corp. Especially if I am providing the ships/materials/colateral.

You could spend one minute checking their skills visually. Do hauling corps have so many people clamoring to get in that you need that extra 30-45 seconds of time savings?

All right, let's say CCP implements hauling certificates. What should they be called, and what skills would they include? Surely those of you who feel a strong need for hauling certificates have some idea. I'm not talking about general descriptions of things that might be in certificates, I'm talking about:

[Certificate Name]
Skill name
Skill name
Skill name
Skill name

Chances are, once you actually sit down to do this instead of complaining that you're unrecognized by the certification system, you'll find that these certificates are either very short lists (and so not useful) or simply redundant with already-existing certificates.

Just becuase you dont find certificates useful doesnt mean everyone else doesnt.

EDIT:
Look at it this way, is it easier for me to see your college degree or to look through the list of specific classes you took for that degree?

If you have to look at certificates to validate someone's skills, you need to not be a recruiter. Shocked

Atticus too many people do combat missions or pvp or do incursions to there isnt a big need for hauling. Plus people who would need it sometimes do get haulers themselves to haul. But there is some hauling industry or career but for those reasons its a bit smaller. Maybe other reasons how knows.

I demand that "station camping" be formally recognized in EVE's certificate system. Here is my proposal:

[Station Camping, Basic]
****-talking III

And there you have it. I expect to see this in-game immediately.

**** no, it does not. It's something you do because you enjoy it; not because you have a piece of paper saying you can do it.

My first trip would be to the kill boards. My next call would be to find out if they cleaned out anyone.

Hauling is only something you do around other stuff. It is not an end in itself, or a career.

It is only necessary to move stuff: Ore when you mine, commodities from your PI, loot from your mission running, your sh!t when you relocate to another station.

Look into my eyes...   and tighten that sphincter, kid.

You do know that there is a hauling corporation in Eve right? Surely you have heard of Red Frog Right? They even have recruiting standards if you are interested in seeing how people handle that sort of thing without whining.
