I mean, it was really obvious from CCP Seagull announcing the return of bi-annual expansions that CCP realized the lack of big-ticket releases was a major factor in losing the attention of some of the playerbase and in new players not being attracted.

That would seem to indicate they realize one of the core issues and are working on it.

That's not to say I expect this thread to ever die though. This thread will probably be around right up until some distant time in the future when EVE finally closes down. I guess it'd be kind of funny if on that day 10+ years down the road the OP came back and ended the thread with "I told you so!".

It is easy to get carried away on the internet :D especially because there is a lot of technically bad discussion techniques going on. That is frustrating.

The ego thing, was mostly due to your claim of why you are more worth than her for the game. (I confess your one meta post about how you see yourself also did not help on this impression Smile ).

I also object to the notion that people should be treated according to their "worth" in EVE. I object to that you can estimate the worth of a person in EVE and I think diversity is good for EVE, be it PVP'ers/PVE'ers or strict PVE'ers.

I know she kinda tricked your response out of you (by first claiming she has more worth), hoping you would make a unsympathetic post, letting you bury your own grave. Which you did a little bit. People stop listening to people who make too extreme statements. So just think about that.

What I personally don't appreciate is when people make a lot of statements on faulty data (Which Indah is guilty of IMO by extrapolating data from a subpopulation to count for the whole population). I have told her earlier on in this thread, and hope it will sink in at some point.

If she can't take the "obvious truth in front of her face,"(let's assume such a thing exist) the polite thing would be to let her get there at her own speed. Or keep calm with persuasive arguments. Forcing revelations(true or not, objectively speaking) on people will just get them in the defense where they stop thinking, and not process the information at hand.

If you go a couple of pages back, I already mentioned that it is not rapid anymore when looking at ACU (for the last 6 months), so this thread ought to be closed. I was then jumped by people who proclaimed I really ment there had never been a decline in numbers. meh.. but yes the circle arguments are strong in this thread.

The only reasonable reason this thread is still around, I suspect, is due to the reason Solecist Project speculated in another thread:
- lightning rod, to keep all the crazies(my self included Big smile) in one place. Combined with the fear of people screaming censorship.


And as such it is working fine. I also don't think this thread scares people off. If you go through there are actually good arguments hiding in between all the crazy, going in both directions. All the EVE critical statements are being adressed by people being more positive towards EVE. The amount of EVE positive people in this thread outweight the ones negative towards EVE. So I am sure that ISD sees it as no threat. it is pretty balanced. Had it been 163 pages of negativity it would have been closed for " post constructively".

What CCP has here is 163 pages, because there are people defending them. This is the best advertisment you can get Big smile

If it were to be closed, someone would just start up a new similar thread and the same would happen. At least by having this one open they can divert anyone trying to open a new one here. If they kept closing too many of them the risk is that people would go off somewhere much more public

I wouldn't say all of them are being addressed. Sure, they have "positive" people arguing against them but it's not like someone shows up and says "ACU has halved" then someone goes "NOPE I LOVE EVE" and that's that.

The way I see it, both extremes are as bad as each other. Overly negative people are acting like the game is already over, while the overly positive people are pretending that there are zero issues. There obviously are some issues with player retention and server population, and I just wish CCP would be a bit more open with their plans and overall direction. And over all if EVE sticks around for ages, great! If not, it's not the end of the world.
