So in Eve vegas there was mention of a beta launcher?

It's now out of Beta (on 18 December) and yep, you can try it.

Read through the thread linked. That's still way too beta for my liking. Going to stick to the old for the time being. ;)

It's not in beta any more.

And for most people, it's far more stable than the previous one. (with a bunch more functionality)

Went 'beta', never went back. It has one or two annoying features still, but these were also true of every other launcher and the direct exe method. Like it doesn't log in properly when waking up from sleep mode. And I have to close and reopen it.

Yeah, that's the most annoying part about it for me, but it's so great in every other way that I can look past it.

I have the beta launcher pre 18th installed.
It bugged heavily from hibernating, so I use the old one.

Still using the old one, not gonna use it so early.

Not as of yet, anyway.
