Allow MTU's to be shared amongst fleet/corp

Yes this is a good idea and yes you are not the only one asking for this, we kinda had the same idea a short while after the release.

Nope, it won't break EVE and we might not get it sooner than 2016. Just be patient.

I believe personal deployables should remain - personal. I recognize the utility of having fleet sharable resources but believe it should require a ship on grid with a fleet hangar and/or fitting service. The Orca provides this if you are willing to put a ship that valuable at risk.

I would support a T2 Noctis concept with fleet hangar, fitting service and DST level tank and cost. A ship like that should be able to provide useful capability with reasonable risk/reward balance.

A hearty heck no. The current mechanics keep the loot on the field and interactable by all players longer. This is a good thing.

This would be a huge nerf to HS shinanigans.

Being that there is currently too much wealth coming into the game, making it easier to harvest pve sites is not a good idea at this time. In the future if 'times get tough' and momma can't afford a new pair of shoes - this might be a viable idea. Right now it can only add more injury to an overwealth economy.


PROS: it would make it more easier to get more stuff
it would make lazy folks happy
it would make risk averse folks happy

In this game of alt characters are you serious?
Unload MTU to can and alt picks it up and moves it, stuff is in space maybe 20 - 30 seconds longer than it would be if MTU's were accessible to the fleet. If you were in the pocket / anom with them this may be enough time for you to steal or blow up their stuff, if you are not then it is not sufficient time for you to warp to them, or even activate an acceleration gate and get in.

To me the thing I do not understand is even more basic than the MTU"s. If you are in a fleet how come you do not have a dedicated loot / salvage position? If you did then the MTU becomes irrelevant as the loot / salvage position simply uses a far better tool called the Noctis. If you do not have a player willing to fill this position for an equal share of the loot / salvage then assign the position on a rotating basis.

A lot of wh corps leave their mtus in space. Even after a site is complete for the day. It allows for prebookmarking before folks log in to run sites. It allows a point for future player interactions. 'Simply use a noctis' isn't an option in any C5/C6 anom while it's being run (the dps is too high) and the left over rat to hold the site for the next day is a sleeper BS in several sites - not something a noctis can withstand. The only "I don't want to loot/salvage" issue my corp has is that some guys aren't comfortable trucking billions in loot around in cargo because they don't want to be responsible if it gets ganked.

For null anoms a lot of guys do sanctums in carriers. It's more efficient to drop the MTU, finish the anom and move to the next. You don't warp around picking up MTUs in a carrier - you finish the anoms and then clean up. I jump into the system and everyone docks. Now the MTU guy has to decide if he wants to leave all that loot on the field or risk going and getting it. It becomes a race. His loot scooping speed vs my MTU probing speed. If he stays docked I claim the loot. It makes for the possibility of player interaction based on a series of several choices.

If an alt could scoop it, you could just have that alt trail by 1 or 2 anoms and much of the opportunity for interaction would be gone.

Overall, you want to add something to the game that removes player interaction points. I'm against that. MTUs are pvp magnets and making them corp things removes some of those opportunities. It would be a nerf to pvp.

You do not need the MTU in space to book mark a site, in fact you do not need anything in space but your ship to be able to book mark so this is not relevant. However since an MTU can be left in place and used as a book mark even if it is not yours this part of your argument has no bearing on the discussion of allowing corp / fleet access to those MTU.

To the point of player interaction, you and others use them now and presumably they drive at least some player interaction or you would not mentioned it. So the real question with regards to this topic is how would making them accessible to corp / fleet remove, reduce or enhance their ability to drive player interaction? Yes I know that it would for a solo character but then we are not talking about solo characters here or the whole issue of corp / fleet access would be moot.

If you go back I have always been against allowing corp / fleet access to the MTU. So in reality you speak for both of us with this. But that does not change the simple fact that leaving them as owner access only or allowing corp / fleet access would have virtually no affect time wise on those who want to keep their stuff as safe as possible.
Thinking about this and going back to the carrier I can think of at least one way that your scenario could be circumvented even if we left the MTU as owner access only.

As I stated above and in most topics where this comes up I agree with you on this point, and that coming from one who does not PvP in this game.

I don't think I would have a problem with a MTU being launched for a Corp/Fleet.

The convenience is obvious.

The biggest con I see would be what Serendipity already brought up - possible loss of player interaction.

However, letting others have access to your MTU would open up a different type of player interaction - thievery.

Actually maybe this might work best for Corp launches rather than Fleet. Fleet logs would quickly point out the thief.


Hmm. The more I think about it, maybe make a separate more costly Corp MTU. Maybe a T2 MTU?

You can catch the scooping alt. It's once again a race between your probing speed and the scooping alt scooping speed.
