Do deleted mails show up through API?

Tried a few searches on this topic, didn't find anything conclusive either here or elsewhere on the net.

I have an eve-mail someone sent me that contains some personal out-of-game info for that person. I'm not currently in a group that requires a full API key, but if I were to join such a group in the future I would not feel comfortable letting them see this message - it's nothing *bad*, and I know the chances of anyone doing anything inappropriate with that info are very low, but just on general principle it's not my info to share or take risks with.

If I delete the mail in-game (by trashing it and then deleting it from the trash), would someone with a full API key still be able to see it? If so, is there anything else I could do to make this particular mail un-recoverable?

Now that you posted this question, everybody that recruits you and finds this message, will be like "oh let's see what this is, maybe it is useful one day"

Other then that, I just tried it myself and I deleted an EvE Mail just shortly before I pulled the API with my mail. The eve mail did NOT show up.
