For the holiday season, why don't you give us a battleship-sized limited edition novelty ship--something that costs no skills to fly and offers no battleship-level bonuses. Just a ship that happens to be big and slow like a battleship. And if you wanted to get real fancy, you could even toss on a few thousand MW of powergrid, just don't give it enough slots to do more than tank with it. Could be fun to have a nooby battleship.

Novelty Nooby Battleship

3 high slots, 2 launcher hardpoints
3 mid slots, 3 low slots
no drone bay

2500MW powergrid
250Tf CPU

600m3 cargohold
80km targeting range
80mm scan resolution

about 6000/6000/6000 hit points

Most important part really is that it's some cool design we can fly for looks, and also I picked launcher hardpoints so it can fit festival launchers.

Frostys Virpio: "We have to give it to him that he does put more effort than the vast majority in his idea but damn does it sometime come out of nowhere."

Festival launchers no longer need hard-points.

And no from me because lets not further scare people off BS. They are bad enough without creating deliberately gimped versions.

New players won't fly it and think "battleships suck", they'll fly it and think "battleships are difficult, I don't get it and I'm not ready". Because every time they see a veteran player use a battleship, that veteran is doing something totally awesome (to them) with it.

Veteran players will not look at this and think "battleships suck", they will look at it and think "this battleship sucks".

in the main yes, some noobs will fly it and think 'this BS sucks, a destroyer has more slots than this I need another one", and we're back to current standards....
I'd say give it a few more slots and perhaps a turret or two if you're giving it launchers.

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it WILL be.

It's supposed to be obviously a gimmick ship. If it has too many slots, people start thinking it's supposed to actually be used, like the Victorieux Luxury Yacht or the Gnosis. With an obviously pathetic slot layout and no skill bonuses, the ship will more easily be seen for what it is: an essentially useless gimmick ship like the Apotheosis or the Primae.

That would end up as a reprosessing object...

I would think it goes without saying, but the ship has no reprocess value.

I'd say no purely because I don't think CCP should get into the business of constantly trying to outdo themselves every Christmas. The slow but steady rise in expectations doesn't need any helping along.

This post brought to you by CCP's alpha forum alt initiative. Playing the eve forums has never come cheaper.

I'm not suggesting they give us any more ships than they were already going to give, but rather than if/when they do give us a new ship, that it is a battleship for the sake of being large and slow.

Only if I get an Eidolon with some purple mods on, which I would take on a roam and you could come and kill it for holiday cheers.

Eve Minions is recruiting.

This is the law of ship progression!

Will they?

Or will they just carry on flying the battleship they've already earned - are flying - and training skills, based on experience to fly better.
