i cant make up my mind, im gonna use it for both pve and pvp, wich one is better for ratting null and wich one is better for pvp?

for ratting, the drake have the kinetic dmg bonus witch wont help me much at my current location as EM is the damage of chice. the raven on the other hand work as good with any damage types.

on the other hand, the raven is more expensive and require more skillpoints to be trained.

pros/cons heavy missiles vs cruise missiles for ratting?

for pvp, as i understand it, the drake whould be better since its cheaper, and heavy missiles have an easier time hitting smaller targets? also the kinetic dmg bonus isnt worthless.

my conclusion is that ill have to train em both maybe, since they use alot of same skills the difference in training wont be that big?

so, what ship is better for pve and pvp and why? take into consideration the price, and dont recommend me a tengu since i cant fly it nor afford it

I'd say a Tengu.

Depends on the sites/enemy ships. If you're going against frigates/destroyers/cruisers the Drake would be nice. With the raven you'd need to depend on your drones for smaller targets much more than the Drake. If you're going against battlecruisers and battleships the Raven would be better since you'd do more damage quicker, so no real strain on your tank or cap. RHML on a Raven?

For PVE.
Are you talking null sec that your alliance own?

Are you talking belt ratting or green anomalies in the scanner?

For PVE.
If you are talking high sec, then I would run l3 in drake and train raven to run l4.

PVP? there are only a few cases that people use drake or raven in pvp. is your alliance using drake/raven? ask them, asking us is a waste of time.

For PvP, both of them are bad slow coffins.
For PvE, use Raven whenever you may push one through the gates. Because if you can't hit small targets, you just rearm your ship with rapid heavies.

You want a piece of EVE history and lore to die? For shame!

e: another reason for the Raven posting is that this ship must be one of the most popular PVE ships in use, given how many fits a simple Google search throws up...

The Raven is the best option, if you want to get into level 4 security missions fast. You can get the ship flying with 2million skill points (sub optimal, but still kinda works). It might be a tad slow, but it should be able to do most missions.

My only concern is the pvp side "Not sure i would like to fly one outside of high-sec" . A battleship in pvp sucks in most cases, well depending on what kinda pvp you intend on doing.

You could always train the Raven till you feel its giving you a decent income / ISK pool, to be able to stop training skills with it. Then perhaps train for a dedicated pvp ship.

EVEBoard ...Just over 60million skill points, each skill was chosen for a reason. I closed my eyes & clicked another skill to train... "BINGO...!!!" ... "This time i got something usefull"

For pve the raven will have faster finish times especially if you're not shooting rats with kinetic resist hole, so more isk/hr. also better for pvp with RHML.

Why? The bonus is for ALL launchers. You can also make 2 groups of rapid lights and help create "involuntary disassemblies".

A better why is: Why would you recommend a 700 mil isk ship to someone who doesn't understand the fundamental differences between a Drake and a Raven?

Hey mate,

You don't seem like you know the fundimentles behind each ship, and because of this I would say stick with the Drake for now, it is cheaper, has a great tank, and ca still do really good DPS with HAM's, and Heavy Missiles, and stick to Level 3 Missions until you know the differences, strengths and weakness's of each ship at least a little bit. As for PvP, do not jump straight into Battleship or Battlecruiser PvP, I did that, and it is hard, you can't fit anything properly, nor pilot properly, yet, so, join a NPSI community, like Spectre Fleet, and fly in some fleets with Cruisers and Frigates fit, learn all the fundamentals, and then take steps. I myself fly a Megathron now, and I cope so much **** about it that it is crazy, Ravens will cope you a ton more, though I do have a Nano Raven which is pretty decent, focus on your basics first mate, otherwise you will be loosing your Raven in the first fight you take.

Of course, you can do what ever you want, but take it from a fellow newbie, don't upship so fast, you will have a hard time no just in PvP, but socially too, start small and learn, I started Battleship PvP after I lost like 20 Cruisers, 10 Frigates, Assault Frigates, and Interceptors, while this might not sound like much, I fly in, and FC a lot of fleets, so I didn't die all that much, and I have only been PvP'ing for 3 months, so trust me, it doesn't take long to PvP in those big things, but you need to learn all the PvP basics first.

Good luck, and fly free!

Paranoid, I only meant Lucy. My recommendation for pvp is still the Navy Osprey or the Caracal and the Raven is just fine for pve.

Raven is not flyable in PVP.
HAM drakes are decent for small scale PVP.

I have used one a few times, Nano Raven, of course works well, and their is a guy in my normal hunting grounds who uses one to awesome effect, and I have come across some in Null Sec which have held the DPS of 20+ Interceptors at bay, while pinking us off, so yeah, anything can be made PvP viable with enough skill and imagination, people say my Mega is un-usable, i simply laugh and murder them, people laughed in local at my Mega, they engaged me and a 4 man gang, they lost their FC and most expensive and hardest to hit ship, to a single volley of my Blasters, Raven is a bit harder due to Missiles and the new Missile Disrupters, but still viable with an ASB/RHML fit, and in big fleets, Cruise Ravens will mess you up so hard, as they hit harder then anything once the volleys start up.

Also, you have never lost one as it would seem, and since you are, or at least, used to be a WH'er, I would assume you ahve very little experiance flying a Battleship, especially for PvP, so I don't think you have the right to say they are not flyable.. I love flying a Battleship for PvP, many do. Just look up Duffo on YouTube, he does an awesome video with a Raven, there are a few awesome ones too.

I rat 0.0 in AFs / T3Ds. The time to kill the rat vs mobility, cost and usability makes them far better imo.
