It would be nice to see some DEV post on the Rorqual. Doesn't even need to be a blog.

Even it has horrible bad ideas.

There's been nothing since Fanfest 2014.

Few weeks ago CCP mentioned that the rorqual changes are revealed soon. They explained they had 3 main pillars to deal with the rorqual currently has. Aa they explained in a recent o7 show. And in eve vegas . And in the roundtable feom eve vegas of capital ships.

Patience my friend. You are not alone.

Edit: here is some of the latest info regarding the rorqual, google is you friend.

Capital Q&A:
Q) What’s happening to the Rorqual? #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #6 #7
A) We have plans for the Rorqual, but we’re still looking into their technical feasibility. We will release details about the Rorqual soon.

o7 show from 29 october

What are your plans concerning the Rorqual?

The Rorqual is like Off-Grid Links, we will conquered them, but are not ready to talk about plans. We have some old plans, some new plans, and changes may be implemented in Spring 2016 when the other Capital changes are implemented, before we change the Rorqual, it needs to meet 3 requirements

It needs to do powerful things on the field
Effectively support other miners
Defensive abilities that can be good enough to survive

The Rorqual needs love, and has been neglected for a while, but we are working on changes.

You are missing my point.

CCP needs to interact with the players to get feedback on the Rorqual before they drop a completed ship on the players.

CCP haven't even asked the players what is needed yet, and CCP have a track history of being very bad at mining.

You mean, I won't get capital strip miners that totally wouldn't break the mining???

Lowering the average to make you look better since 2012.

I want to believe they have a good handle on this, based on the most recent mining changes. However the near total silence on the subject makes lean toward it going the wrong way.

All we've heard the past 3-4 years is either "the rorqual needs some love, we have some ideas we're working on, and we'll release some info soon" over and over and over and over, or total silence.

The rumor on reddit / failheap is that on the o7 show fozzie said off grid links are going away in the spring (everyone believes it, but nobody has been able to link the video for some reason, vOv idk) The rorq was one of the things holding this back, so if it's happening...wtf

Mate, first you said you didn't heard anything since 2014, now u say that the ship was dropped incomplete?
They dropped it on us with a way they thought we would use it.
We just found a much safer way to use them

You are missing my Point, i have made numerous posts about any ideas or whatsoever for the Rorqual aswell, but the main thing that holds it back is that the only reactions are either ugh another rorqual post or wait. If you are so eager for changes, make a good post for ideas or what so ever of ur own, or reply in one of the many threads. there are many other people wanting change, its just a matter of effort on both sides here.

What would your ideas be?

they mentioned it here and there in a o7 show if i remember right. i believe its the same o7 show where they last talked about the rorqual.

Most likely they will, since they want to rorqual to be on grid in the belt aswell as any other kind of boosters, since they want them to be interacting with the game.

The Rorqual has been a sub-par carrier industrial for a long time. Of course it's supposed to be sub-par, but it always did a lousy triage plus no significant drone application.

I'd like to see it made into an industrial Force Auxiliary. Allow it to fit a triage module along with its industrial core. Let it go into triage mode independent of whether it's in or out of industrial mode, so it can choose to rep the mining fleet and self-rep at the cost of not being able to receive remote reps. Then give it more high slots, less powergrid, and a bonus to the range of large shield transmitters. Give it somewhere between the rep power of a FAx and a cruiser logi, but able to spread its reps out much more easily to multiple small ships such as a mining fleet of procurers and skiffs.

FT Diomedes: "Reaver, sometimes I wonder what you are thinking when you sit down to post."

Frostys Virpio: "We have to give it to him that he does put more effort than the vast majority in his idea but damn does it sometime come out of nowhere."

But........why?

I understand your idea but the whole idea it should effectively support the fleet while being able to run if possible if ongrid.

Adding triage instead of altering/removing the core isnt going to get it out of the magic bubble they loveSad

I do like the thought behind it all for what its worth

If they would remove the no warp from the indy core, I'd be 100% on board with putting my booster rorq in the belt, with zero other changes.

I've been using rorqs in the belt for years, but they are able to run reasonably fast. Changing the setup so that the booster has to be a sitting duck, just waiting for whoever to drop a couple dreads on you...nah, i'll just swap to an orca

I hope not.

I've been against it from the first time it was mentioned.

However, I'm not totally against some sort of heavy mining drone. [Rorqual needs a much larger drone bay. I've been suggesting fighter - 1 m3 for years.]
