from what i understand content packs are for new accounts only, you cannot buy one and merge it into your already existing account. so no, don't buy a content pack, unless you want two accounts.

Yes, content packs are for new accounts. I almost made the same mistake a week or so ago :)

Off topic (real reason why i replied in this thread heh): Mance Pax, you are creepy.

Would someone mind explaining the logic behind content packs and why CCP decided to go back to the old trial length? Because what's happening now is kind of weird. You get a max of 21 free trial days, but you want 20 more 'trial' days you have to sign up and pay 5 bucks. Doesn't that kind of defeat the idea of a trial?

Yeah, that defeats a whole idea of a free trial, which is supposed to be, well, free of charge. Maybe they decided that 30 days is too long or something - ok for me. But 5$ for another 20 days of trial? Id just sub.

Or maybe thats the whole point?

Two thirds of a month of subscription + some skills and ship skins for $5 seems worth it to me. $15 / month means you normally pay $10 for just the 20 days, and the skins would probably be another $5 worth of aurum.

Also, keep in mind that the monthly subscription is $14.95, but you have to pay an extra $5 to activate a trial account (the first payment is $19.95). I won't buy a pack to check, but maybe the $5 for the pack also covers the activation fee.

See, this is the type of information they might want to clarify on the content pack page. If I were a newbie I would not have a clue how this is supposed to work. In fact, I am far from a newbie and I still don't know.

Its tradition in eve for this sh*t to be as complicated and disingenuous as possible.

But i think the only way we will know is if we actually file a support ticket.
