Re-try that Scope video

I would like to suggest the idea that you take down the latest Scope video, and try again.

Now, I realize at first that this seems a snarky comment, but I want you to hear me out on this.

You have not put out a major 'trailer' level video since.... what? This Is Eve? That was over a year ago. The Scope videos are nice. They add to the immersion. They help you point out minor additions to the general game play while wrapping them in a nice Lore-based ribbon. However, you have just released a large patch. Aside from the list of new and exciting ships you have introduced, you also introduced a very visually stunning shield/armor effect. This visual effect, while very pretty, has no functional game value. Its primary value is in a cinematic capacity. And, you guys drop the ball by releasing it with no new trailer showcasing awesome spaceship battles with these effects. Instead, you drop a rinky-dink Scope video on patch day about some new anoms.

Now, that said, this is by far the most 'phoned-in' Scope video, or really Eve video, you guys have ever made. Here is where you fell grossly short:

1) The images were of stock spaceship B-roll completely unrelated to the content at-hand.
2) The voice acting was AWFUL. Maybe it would have been fine if you had done some Post-Recording editing. Add in some echoes or spaceship hums. I mean.... It just sounds like a person in a sound studio. It just sounds so hollow and quiet. Even some simple radio static would have helped blend it in to the video better.
3) The dialog was severely lame. She spent time telling us the damage types dealt by, and to deal to, Serpentis. ... We know what to shoot at Serpentis. And you know that we know that, which makes it clear this was added for filler because you couldn't think of anything else to say to make the video longer.

The point is you did a poor job on this video from top to bottom telling us about some new combat anoms and totally ignored the immense amount of new and exciting content the release contains. This video is of such poor production quality that prospective new players will choose to not play such a cheesy game after watching it. Make a better trailer, or at least take that one down and make it presentable before re-posting it.

I'm no expert, but don't the super awesome shield effects have to be in game for like an hour or so before you have super awesome shield effects content to edit and put up for folks to see?

You're not being snarky. You're being snarky AND impatient AND have no sense of the time space continuum that defines us all.

The focal point here is not really about the shield effects.

Firstly, they release trailers with new effects at the date of release all the time. See the Inferno and Retribution trailers for example. They make and edit those videos on a separate machine, not from live in-game recordings.

Secondly, the primary point of this post is the poor production quality of the most recent Scope video. It is an embarassment to the community. No one would show that video to a friend in an effect to convince their friend to register and play this game. It either needs to be fixed now or it will stay up forever, shamefully swept under the rug by the community as we all collectively agree to forget.

I see this as nothing but a detailed rant from an ungrateful and impatient player.

Try again yourself...

Obvious rant is obvious, thread locked.
