Hi!

I'm a newbie here. This is my first toon. I enjoy playing 6 months for now, so I will tell you what I think about the game and the current patch.

Dear CCP designers:
1. Eve online is the best game I ever played. I'm going to stay here.
2. Eve online has the worst user interface I've ever seen, in aspect information capability.

A few words of explanation of the second statement:
EVE is the pretty old game. Most of the users on this forum really do know everything about the game mechanics, market and so on. They dont see that more information would be useful for new players. But for a beginner starting playing EVE is horror. This game cannot be played without asking the other players, checking the internet, reading forums. Most of items on the market is described poorly. There is a lot room for interpretations.
For example:
Skill Guided Missile Precision: Skill at precision missile homing. [....]
Skill Torpedos: Skill at handling and firing of torpedos. [...]
One of the first question I had: Does "Guided Missile Precision" works with Torpedos or not? What about Bombs? If this skill refers to the weapon group "Missiles" - it works, but on the other hand it may be limited only to the Light Missiles, Heavy Missiles, HAM and Cruise Missiles. It is not explained in the description. The solution is very easy - just add the another tab in the item "Supporting skills" and this will show which skills will enhance the properties of the item.

Second example (lack of information):
I salvaged something and got the salvage material. I can easy check its price on the market. But finding how can I use this material is very hard by searching in-game descriptions. I had to use external services like eve wiki, chruker to check usability many materials. The only materials which are nice described are planetary materials. Everyone final product can be tracked down to the raw materials, and from the raw materials to the most complex material. I assume that planetary interaction materials were added to the game like last ones, but this kind of production browser for rigs would be extremely useful for new players.

All these things enhance new player expirience. You touch completely unimportant things like exchanging "caldari state" with an icon of Caldari, exchanging check mark from green to blue, and so on. Better investment of your time work would be expanding the information base to this point, when eve-wiki would be completely unnecessary.

Anyway - thanks for the good job - creating such fantastic game.

Of all the new features that have been release, some of which I haven't had a chance to use yet, I find the new grid size to be extremely distracting. Items are showing up on grid at 17,000 km, as well as cluttering the overview while multiple ships fly past making combat and scouting distracting. Things are appearing and disappearing from the overview making selecting items difficult. While I can see the benefit of expanding the grid beyond 250 km but the current size is more than a distraction and could prove fatal.

The brightness slider is awesome, it could even go a bit darker in the Amarr region.

Zoom being reset everytime you dock is very annoying and not good for gameplay at all, it will be hard avoiding being bumped off undock if you can't see what's happening around you immediately after undocking in lowsec.

Are there no attribute boosters dropped like in the last blood raider event? Please say yes I can't handle the slow skill training in this game.

I agree that the CCP team should be thanked for their continued efforts to improve the look of Eve. Generally, I can live with most changes in the visuals of a game, so long as it does not interfere with function.

The only real issue I have with this release is that it slows down my scanning process. The color of the probe scans match the color of the dscan, which makes it more difficult to align/overlap the two. And the more detailed probe effects combine to obscure the scan signatures you are trying to center on. It is difficult to see a small yellow "+" amid the visual noise.

Great improvements overall, really happy with this patch!

Few points of praise:

  • Scanning with the upgraded interface is a million times faster
  • Data sites are worthwhile now
  • Game visuals feel smoother when making fast movement (spinning and such), is this TAA?
  • Market loads so nicely fast now

Few points of improvement/questions:

  • Sigs in the new map really needs to be a tad brighter (those red dots are really hard to spot sometimes)
  • Nebulae overlay on the stars look botched, blocky and unpleasant in general
  • I cannot spot killmarks on my ships for the world, are these implemented already?
  • When in the D-Scan window manually typing a AU distance loads a different filter which is confusing

Great stuff keep it up!

One last question: How long will it take for dust to appear?

A NO name update release, where we have to use yet another website to see what we might get;

http://updates.eveonline.com/

Forgive for not touching this release for another week, with the legacy code and all, I'll be in BostonCool

PS: I'm seeing changes to eve online that could be used to forward the new Eve Valkyrie to market.

Eve online is :

A) mining simulator B) glorified chatroom C) spreadsheets online

D) CCP Games Pay to Win at skill leveling, with instant gratification

I suppose it could be just me being stupid, but why are people complaining about new blueprints not being seeded properly, when the patch notes do NOT mention new blueprints ?

Can i ask where the scroll menu has gone for D-scan filter?

I have nearly 40 different presets and can no longer select over half of them. This is extremely annoying as i can no longer use my default overview settings on my d-scanner once i changed it to test

Can Command Processors be fit on the Command Destroyers? EFT seems to think not. They are pretty useless if they can only fit one link. If they cannot be fit please consider allowing at least 1 to be fit.

Answer: yes it can fit a command processor. That fact is stated in the attributes section for the command processor, however it is on a different line from the one where all the other ships are listed. This is probably why EFT missed it.

Ok, so it appears that you guys didn't learn your lesson after we had to tell you that when we are probe scanning we need to actually be able to see what is going on. So here it is again:

Either give us the ability to modify the brightness/ contrast of what is happening in the new solar system menu, or actually spend some time scanning on it to make sure it isn't an eyesore that's going to cause strain if stared at for more than 5 minutes.

More specifically: The new probe effects are far too bright and the muted exploration site 'dots' are quite difficult to see within them, and requires quite a bit of squinting.

Furthermore, stop messing with the probe system just because you are bored. There was no justification for it this time, it didn't add anything to exploration and instead creates unnecessary headaches for people that are tired of you changing the system every few months.

- space looks absolutely horrible now, all blurry and wishy washy. (this IS a problem imo.)

- sounds are no longer relative on distance

THIS Shocked

I don't get it how CCP manages to screw up sounds while updating the graphics. Best part is, this is not the first time this happens.

Also, who had the bright (literally) idea to change the Directional Scan cone / sphere colors to exactly the same as the probes spheres?? The signatures colors themself are crazy. I have a 20/20 vision and I'm not colorblind in any way and I still have to strain my eyes to see stuff in the scanning window. What the hell CCP? Also, all this spinning and flickering of the spheres... distracting and unnecessary.

And now, for some examples.

Old, was totally fine. Why was it changed?! http://puu.sh/lN40c/009ca3d704.jpg
Spot the signature... http://puu.sh/lO61u/d582ec93fb.jpg
Spot the arrows. X marks the spot. http://puu.sh/lO6nf/a567f5ec4d.jpg
Best one. Spot the signature. http://puu.sh/lOtco/8c77feccef.jpg

Overall the scanning UI has been borked big time. I loved doing exploration. Today, after seeing this, I literally thought to myself "time to quit this game like all the other friends I flown with, CCP does not desevre my time".

Thank you, and check your UI designers for colorblindess ASAP.

Does this release have a name?

"December Release" is kind of meh.

Is it really Parallax 1.11?
