The December release has been deployed on December 8 during an extended downtime.

This release introduces 13 completely new ships together with the revolutionary Micro Jump Field Generator, amazing new visual (damage) effects, new falloff range mechanics for remote repair modules and energy neuts/nos, a massive increase in grid size from 250 km to 8000 km, a huge amount of module rebalances, PVP killmarks on ship hulls, and so much more. Explore the full scope on EVE Updates!

Alongside those new features we see the emergence of Operation Frostline, the cluster wide storyline event promising profitable loot and a good amount of spaceship action. Check out the Operation Frostline dev blog!

The full details of all changes and improvements are available in the December release patch notes.

Please post general feedback and discussions in this thread.

Report issues with the release on the PC in the December release issues thread.
For Mac users, there is, as always, a thread on the Macintosh forums for discussion of this release here.

The coolest new effect is the survey scanner. The rest is sort of toned down. Speaking of toned down, did something happen to the graphics? It looks like a step back from 2 hours ago.

Yeah.. they messed allright... messed up... "vibrant universe"... it was alredy .. now its just plain dull!
Cmon.. stop fixin what ain't broken...

And what is with default "flatten" view of old star map??? Its at different angle than before, makes u wonder what happened/where you are... unflatten/flatten fixes things.. but... why u changed that???
Edit: by the looks of it, everytime u open map if flattened, it's shown frome the bottom in relation to default "flattened" view.

Otherwise... LOVE new effects... with esception of that DULLING up the bachrounds...

Hope u fix the map!
And if you stick with the "blurry cloud" thing... please... make the gradients soft.. now they are ... just "blocky awefull"!

Cheers!

Yeah... now space is full of blurry stars... looks like crap. CCP please put it back the way it was...

Id much rather crisp, clear starfields..... not blurry ones.

Is it by design that there's no visual feedback anymore? Like shield boosters, they only initially display an effect and then stops. Sort of boring looking and quite annoying if you rely on that stuff.

More changes for the sake of changes....

  • The new shield effects don't cycle. So I can no longer count shield booster cycles without taking my eyes off of my ship. A minor detail, but quite annoying. I liked the visual detail of shield booster effects repeating as long as the booster was activated. The feedback has now been lost for no reason. If anything the lack of feedback make the new effects a little boring.

  • New propulsion effects have lost their feedback also. You can't really distinguish when prop modules are running and how powerful they are?

  • Salvage effects look cool! I like the feedback you get of seeing chunks of salvage cut away by the lasers and tractored in. Nice!

  • New vibrancy? I'm not seeing it. Perhaps it's the new blurry AA technique? I don't know, but I can't help but feel that it looks quite dull? Or am I simply not appreciating the new change?

You won't hear it often, so cherish it: A big kudoz to the art team for changing the background nebulae so that dusty parts of them occlude stars. That looks really awesome and conveys the feeling that the nebulae are actually inside the cluster, close to your position and not some removed, far away object.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

Most of the issues with probe scanning seem to have been resolved, so good work on that :)

One minor thing: While the new scanning animation looks cool, the visual effect only plays once and ends before the scanning process (and the corresponding sound effect) actually ends. It's rather irritating, the effect should replay until the scanning is completed.

Is it just me or does the background nebulae look kinda 'zoomed in' after patch? I don't remember that they looked so pixelated before...

All good and nice there, I agree, but the quality of the effect is awefull!
It's not at all eye-catchy to see washed out blocky gradients on high end system with graphics pusshed to the max. Is it?
It feels that the effect was "rushed"...

feedback?

- missing items (no big deal)

- camera wont stay zoomed out when docking/undocking. (only a real issue when doing a lot of docking/undocking)

- space looks absolutely horrible now, all blurry and wishy washy. (this IS a problem imo.)

- sounds are no longer relative on distance (big problem as its a PITA hearing cloaking/gate sounds as though you are on top of whatever the noise is coming from).

- map upside down (meh, just a PITA having to flatten/unflatten it every time.)

Conclusion? as most of the problems listed above would be noticed within less than 5 minutes of any testing been carried out, QA department needs a kick up the ass.

How do I enable new camera modes? Couldn't find anything in settings.

edit: nevermind, found out the new camera controls were pushed back to an upcoming patch (for those also wondering: http://bit.ly/1lMdazF )
