This is an idea I've been toying with for quite a while. I'm going to start out saying that I'm pretty sure corp and alliance logos on ships have been a requested feature at some point before, but I'm pretty sure they haven't been illuminated.

This post is purely in regards to illuminated ship logos.

You can see the mockup I threw together HERE *note: Level of illumination could be adjusted with a slider, something close to the logos pictured in the mockup would be close to the highest setting of illumination.

The intent is to create an additional feature that goes along with skins, while bringing a somewhat-unique visual to EVE.
This wasn't possible before CCP added the new lighting effects, but now it has potential, so that's why I'm posting it.

CCP could (somewhat) easily create light maps for each individual logo, and then subtract or add certain regions due to crowding in the logo editor(?). This isn't my area of expertise.

There will be an option for solely the alliance logo, solely the corporation logo, and both at the same time. Areas where logos appear on the ships will be predetermined for the sake of beauty.

Constructive criticism is appreciated.

*edit: The corporation and alliance logos for your ship would be specific to which corporation and alliance you are currently in during the time of activation. Whether or not the logos disappear after you leave an alliance or corporation would be open to discussion.

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it [u]WILL[/u] be.

I like the idea. Illuminated logo's would save time on figuring out who the corporation, alliance or empire that pilot was part of. Illuminated logos would help reduce lock times by 5%.

Lol why would ccp being in custom skins at this put when ppl pay for the ones they bring in

And if they did I can't imagine the cost of skinning an entire corp let alone an alliance back when there was a chance of them being free it was a wonderful idea but that idea is long gone

It would only make sense for them to be free, another option could be permanent passes specifically for the logos, they would be relatively cheap and cost isk/AURUM, but would be purely cosmetic, so they would be an optional cosmetic choice - like a monocle for your character.

They could be far less bright than the ones I pictured above, with only a dull glow to signify loyalties. Alternatively, a brightness slider could be added below the activation option.
