Bond/Loan questions

I'm new to the MD subforum, and just realized that there's a huge potential for profit here.

1. I'm curious as to how often Bonds/Loans are posted here.
2. How can I find out if someone is reasonably reliable for a bond/loan that has no collateral?
3. Are most/all of the bonds/loans done in the forums, or is there an in-game channel about these?
4. How does working with a third party work? (I'm unclear about how the ISK passes through the third party, and how they know what the ISK is for)

These are questions I couldn't answer for myself by reading a few of the posts, and there didn't seem to be a FAQ in this subforum.

Hello,

Welcome to MD forum.

1) Quite often probably around 5 per week
2) Don't give isk to anyone that doesnt have secured collateral, simple. - no collateral loans are all lead-ups to scams.
3) some are done between players in "SCC-Lounge" chat channel
4) a third party is simply someone that both the bond host & the bond buyer trust. The 3rd party will hold the Bond Host collateral & confirm in the thread that they have it & confirm its value. the Bond buyer will then either pass isk thru the 3rd party, or direct to the bond host in relative safety. (if the bond host defaults/stuffs up & pulls a goodlady smith) then the collateral is sold by the third party & the isk is returned to the bond buyer.

Read the goodlady smith thread on how NOT to host a bond, that thread is a trainwreck of bad decisions & skittish behaviour.

good luck - lurk moar!

I would argue differently about 2, Jerry, but then I've had some pretty strange behavior if I'm leading up to a scam.

I've got a bond running already and I'm kind of AFK from the game right now or I would.

Tangent - the great thing about low-rate uncollateralized set-redemption bonds is that in most instances I can make the principal+interest for the entire life of the bond in the first month or less and then everything above that is just gravy to keep leveraging the principal.

Thank you all for the information. It seems there's always some new way to play EvE.
