Replace IHUBs and Upgrades with Observatory Services

After reading some posts on the internal TEST forums, it occurred to me that with the upcoming structure changes, it makes sense to flat out remove IHUBS and move the upgrades to the new structures, specifically Observatories.

I've never understood why in Eve one has to destroy structure x in order to destroy structure y. The structures are completely independent except for the combat interaction. It is not compelling game play to have to destroy a string of seemingly unrelated structures in order to conquer a system.

Fortunately, with FozzieSov the multi-structure requirements have been removed. But this still leaves the IHUBs as a sole point of all-or-nothing structure contention. Its also bad design (from a strategic standpoint) to put all your eggs into one basket. I can understand blowing up a power plant to stop things from functioning. But destroying the IHUB stops a bunch of other structures from functioning.... why? Its like the USA having one power plant per state that powers the entire state and only that state. Structure combat should make sense. Not just be a string of nonsensical linkages to blow up because "objectives".

So, I would like to see IHUBs removed and the upgrades moved to one or more of the new structures. Observatories for example. Most if not all of the IHUB upgrades seem to me to be something that should be on one of those.

As a leading manufacturer of IHUBs, I vehemently oppose this proposal
