So these amarr torniments are still only available to the high tier elite like Chessur and Elise Randolph.
So is the NT toryns and the upcoming gall one.

Where are the ccp created pvp team torniments fpr the COMMON WORKING MAN?

Dont act like "anyone could have joined amarr championship"
No they couldn't.

Why cant ccp cater to the COMMMON EVERYDAY AVERAGE JOE THAT WANTS TO COMPETE IN PVP EVENTS?

I remember talking about something like that at a I think they called it e-sports round table at fanfest, however nothing seems to have gotten done about it.

Of course there are people that think an form of organized pvp is the anti-christ, and in direct opposition to everything eve stands for. In some cases I agree with that, for example if pvp became sit in station and queue up then magically teleport to content I think that would be a very bad thing. But at the same time I don't feel any motivation to organize or participate in player run events as the risk of outside interference seems too high. Also many rules are simply unenforceable.

In the current tournament environment it seems too easy for the top dogs to dominate, and as they accumulate more and more AT prize ships, and at experience that advantage grrows. Hydra and warlords pretty much dominated, but got disqualified for a reason that had nothing to do with their ability to win. Maybe top playes from those two alliances will go elsewhere for next year and the tournament will be full of good teams, or maybe most will just join PL or maybe make a new alliance.

at the same time if CCP starts doing a few matches each week what is the fun in it once something like the AT does roll around. how much spaceship combat will people watch? e-sports seems to be huge right now maybe there is an appetite for it. It might stop the first weekend from being a bunch of blow outs with a few interesting matches here and there. having some sort of rankings year round might even be a good way to seed teams for the AT to make it more interesting.

I would like to see a tournament where there was a completely different field other than the usual people competing in it. All of the tournaments thus far have been very predictable in who is going to be there. I don't like the buy in style of the AT, and I dislike the "random" choices made for the Amarr tournament even more. Make a tournament with an SP ceiling as opposed to an SP floor. That'll change the dynamic in a heart beat.

Space gladiators!!

I agree with what you are saying here.

FW is already sort of a great way to do PVP in a "Arena" type space. A tournament would simply be a more condensed version.

That comes down to the players being prepared to enter and for the most part, the players that are in the most tournaments are the ones that are interested in tournament play.

For the Amarr Championships for example, there were very few initial submissions to CCP seeking entry as a team captain. That was probably influenced by the strict rules to qualify, tied into the RP for this event, but for other tournaments that hasn't been there.

In the New Eden Open we did see some entries out of left field (eg. the multiboxed fleet in NEO II), but for the most part, fields will only differ if more people enter.

Except you're not a common working man. It has previously been determined you are a space cripple.

Hey, while we're at it, lets just make it so if you lose a ship it respawns in your hangar, ganking illegal, and introduce micro-transactions for SP! I'm sure those are all great ideas since they make the game "more fun"!

Ccp makes tournys for the HIGH TIER players. Why not for average joes?

Remember when they were gonna make us a thunderdome arena thingy?
Tgat isn't what i am demanding but i guess i can settle for that maybe

Average Joes are just average. What's worth watching?

But even with current tournaments, average Joe's can enter (eg. Alliance tournament). We aren't discriminated against in that regard.

But if everyone is allowed in how will they pick who gets in. They can't give prizes to everyone or the market for plex/skins would implode.

If they have some sort of crazy elimination rounds (like 1000 rounds cos every man and his dog would enter) it would be a monumental task (last time I watched the alliance tourney the boundary explosions were controlled manually ect) and they could not televise it all. Then only good players would get in the proper tourney and you (or anyone else who did not get in) would still complain cos you did not get in. ("tears" Only people who are good at PVP got in" tears").

Random lottery, people would complain cos they did not get in.

Kill Boards, people would complain cos their boards are not good enough, or because people who got in just padded their KBs.

You don't understand, Persifonne is the "Idea Person"... and leaves to others the incredibly difficult (and costly) job of actually making their idea even remotely practical. Of course, in the unlikely event that someone actually DOES figure out a way to make it practical, Persifonne will expect full credit.

By the way, if you haven't seen it yet, the full Amarr Championship is up on my YouTube channel. Link is in the sig. Smile

I organized frig 1 on 1 tournament in my former alliance, participated in RvB Spring Cup and Tyrian Trophy.

Hardest thing was enforcing arena boundary so only thing i'd like from CCP is to create some sort of arena beacon whit which you could set boundaries. Create it so you can only rent it for ISK per day basis (make it a billion ISK per day or weekend, that way it could be another ISK sink).

If they do that we would se lot more player organized tournaments.

CCP have developed a deployable for that.

Each team in the lead up to the AT this year was provided with them (with limited functionality), but many teams had problems with them, so they weren't widely used to my knowledge.

If you want something like that, it's probably worth a thread in F&I with a link to the original thread, here:

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=435072&find=unread

Either something like that to run tournaments on SiSi, or more limited functionality for TQ.

FW is great because it is focused on an infrastructure, and specific systems with tiers for each system won. "Prizes" go to everybody because anybody can make LP. FW is solo - and is even better for building teamwork (fleets).

A tournament in Eve would have to start out totally random (a chance for everyday solo Joe's to become quite a bit more). It would have to be a chance for anybody to come out of the woodwork from anywhere without any strict guidelines in order to "enter".

Having a tournament for a "trophy", for solo individuals, would have to start at the beginning of the year (to make it fair) and then you accrue points each time you participate until you become eligible for a tier, accrue massive points for winning that tier, then move on to the next tier, and so on. Having a massive trophy at the end of the year, to one person, along with the massive PVP going on would attract attention to those willing to participate. Then the infrastructure in Eve would also benefit from mass spending.

A tournament as I am outlining wouldn't benefit from teamwork directly like FW does, however individuals make themselves known along with their abilities, which creates content, possibly corporations, and alliances. However in the end there would only be one.

Look at the Alaskan Iditarod. Started off as a relay to transport medicine up the "trail" to sick people. CCP could benefit from incorporating that concept into the teamwork needed for one individual to win a tournament.

Another example would be Iron Chef. The Chef competing, is supported by a massive infrastructure and relies on/worships that teamwork, but in the end he/she is in charge, and solely responsible.

Chessur and Elise lost to average joes in the Amarr tournament.
