Hold D + clic on a stargate doesn't always make you jump

When I'm traveling I usually surf the net on the other monitors I have on my computer and don't know why but when i hold down D and clic the destination gate it doesn't always jumps, it just warps to the gate and sits there...

Since I'm surfing the net or whatever on the other monitors I thought it was due to some glitch when the game client is not on the top but on the background (not minimized, but not the active window), so I made the test and the results are inconclusive because sometimes it jumps and sometimes it doesn't...

This has happened since I started playing 4 years ago and on different machines...

Click gate in overview and press D.

Don't click gate in 3D area and don't press D first. (The latter is inconclusive.)

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

Alright, tested enough during these couple of days, still failing.

CCP needs to fix this.

I find the radial menu is the fastest for myself; have you tried that particular feature?

Yeah that has always been a bug for me too, it's often enough I don't walk away until I've for sure docked or jumped.

Map this to a mouse thumb button and then make it open up instantly.

Yeah i agree, sometimes it doesn't work.
Also quick warping to a planet when evactuating a blown up spaceship by holding S and clicking planet fucks up sometimes too.
It's annoying, shrortcut keys are the optimum way to play EvE, but they don't always work.
I think the HUD/shortcut key needs help imo. As they just seem old and not very usable/annoying/tempermental

My favourite is pressing the align key and warping to the gate where the enemies are. Most of the time I escape. I think it confuses them too much, having one logi pilot appear on grid with them.

Same with orbit. You need to spam W not just hit it once or you may be dead in space at a range of 500m. I think its a lag/server tick kinda thing.

Question: is it always the same gates whitch fails?

Question: has your session timer concluded before you land? (Fast inty, short warp, stuck issue)

Observation: hovering over the overview, I get mixed results. Seems t3 destroyers do NOT highlight correctly (same as other ships). Wave mouse along the length of the overview, all ships except t3 will highlight in the main window.

Issue I used to run into: one of the gates has no icon on the overview (forget which). It's in highsec between mission areas.

Hope you submitted a ticket and good luck!

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

never really had this problem myself, click on gate in overview (making it my selected item) press D...warps and jumps every time...well every time it warps to less than 1.5km and the gate isn't overloaded....if too many people are using a gate it forms a line, and warp to zero is inaccurate by up to 5km (once i got a 12km inaccuracy)

my recommendation....create a whole crap-ton of bookmarks to let you overshoot the gate by a few kilometers....you will land at 0, because the gates radius is something like 5km, and while in warp turn on autopilot and it will autojump (just turn it off as soon as you jump) or you can spam D while landing on the gate

Thanks for the advice, but started playing some time ago and the radial thingy was not implemented... it aint in my muscular memory yet... and to be honest I fint it pretty annoying every time it comes up by accident.

Nope, all over the place, carebear space, low...

Commander Spurty wrote:

Nope, with a fat **** battleship.

Nope, i haven't, don't have much trust in the customer service lately, you open a ticket and it takes an average of a week and a half to get a response, which is a preset wall of text of appologies absolutely unrelated to my issue... it takes like a month to actually talk to some human. Evil

It doesn't happen often, less than a half of the times, and only when I'm traveling with more than one client, so the window isn't on the top but on the background (not minimized), i'm quite sure the issue goes that way, maybe if the client isn't on the front it doesn't send the jump command, or the queue of commands: "warp->jump" isn't handled correctly when the client is on the background.

You potentially need two clicks: one to make the EVE client the active program, which is a windows thing, and then the D+click, though I use click+D. Click+D makes the first click count as the active window click. My guess is you are alt+tabbed in other programs and are having this issue due to the active window nuance.

I highly suggest you stop using the D key as it will not warp you to a moon or anything. So when you get blown up and need to get your pod out of there, nothing happens no matter how much you button mash that D button. Use the overview instead. You don't have to right click either. Just select moon, click the warp button like a maniac. Safe.

I think I heard a couple of veteran EVE devs start twitching at the thought of this... P (They introduced Warp to 0 at gates because the bookmark overload from all the players was causing major issues)

Which would be fine except warp to zero often doesn't.

I thought of that too but its not the case, you can prove it yourself: make the window not be the active, clic on a module, the module will turn on.
