Hey,

What do you guys think will happen to POS-BPOs after the citadel-update? Has CCP given any information on this?

I guess they probably will just "buy them back" for NPC-price and screw over everyone who has spent years researching said BPOs, but what can you do.

Interesting question, pos faction mod market is a cash cow for those with patience and the ability to hit the price history button my jita alt is out till this clears up. I will miss poses many memories setting up a deathstar pos in russian wspace and they wake up and ragee while i sit under shields in iteron and lol.
Matter of fact, I have set up, got bored, and completely taken down about 12 large faction towers, mostly in lo and wspace. The only 1 I ever lost was in hisec, some asshat scanned my iteron down which I stupidly left sitting by the tower unanchoring.
He hit it with a tractor and I chased it like a dummy, by the time I got another hauler alt in system he had one of his own.
Offered to sell it back cheap I had 5 more in jita just gave him GF he earned it and I can lol at myself.

I would guess a straight NPC price refund once they are removed. They did this with Ore Compression BPOs, though those were worth only a fraction of even the cheapest POS BPOs. They mentioned the possibility of some sort of refund for excessive research under the old ME/PE system when they overhauled the whole of Industry, but that never panned out and I think it would be very time consuming for little benefit to the game (although a big benefit to people like me who hoard BPOs), the changes that resulted in all previously well researched BPOs being standardized to 10/20 and the new blueprint viewer that allows you to sort them much more easily were more than enough to offset the few dozen years of (useless) research that was not carried over Lol.

I think that a somewhat fresh start with structure BPOs is more interesting too, it sort of puts everyone on level playing field and there's a new gold rush to profit from, although people with researched Station Component BPOs already have a head start because of the excessive time and ISK they take to research to full now.

As for being screwed over, most of these would've been researched years ago and more than made their research time back, if you were unfortunate enough to not foresee their looming removal and buy them, or Bob forbid research them yourself under the new system, well that's too bad I guess. CCP have done a lot worse, at least we're finally getting new structures to replace Starbases :).

\me looks at his 5 me10 egg bpo's. 40b in research expenses alone... maybe it wont be hanger dust aftrrall Lol

That "gold rush", isnt coming elizabeth ;). Everyone who steps in now, is allready too late as the just a bit higher me prints will pricecap the masses untill they are caught up (you cant research and copy at the same time ;)). Atleast, from my perspective, the risk exist that my allready me10 sets will flood the market soo fast. Unfortually i have lots and lotss of them in the cooker.

Your station egg BPOs will be useless as new structures won't be using them, I think you'll be hard pressed to meet the demand that brand new structures which can be anchored everywhere by anyone will have. If you have ME 10% components that's only a 2-3% difference to what can be easily accomplished before Citadels are released, if you think that will make the difference between unprofitable and profitable then I don't know what to say. The most important thing is sourcing your materials and starting builds before they get too expensive, and you've got a few months to do that.

I get you, however i would like to correct you. You mentioned gold rush, im just saying that it is incorrect. The roi wont come near it to be called like that. If you compare it to the expected PI rise, theres way bettrr roi to be gaind in there.

Depends on your specific definition of a gold rush I guess, I just mean that they will be selling well above the average markup for manufactured goods in general. You only need to look at other new and less exciting items that sold for multiple times their build cost at release, the Confessor is a good example as it had a few barriers to entry and massive demand due to being unique at the time.
