Omir! Why CCP is missing opportunities....

The Blood Raider Halloween event was one of the best and most interesting new content dropped on us these past months (the drifters story line too, by the way, but the blood raiders were way more accessible...).

But isn't CCP missing an opportunity?

Many pilots went to destroy blood raiders nests, and still CCP did not communicate any data about how capsuleers have contributed to defeat the blood raiders menace (as far as I know).

For example, a simple top 10 blood raider killers' for each region (possibly captured from skin count dropped, or the last shot on the Blood Raider battlecruiser) would have been such a great comm tool to wrap this event, highlight individual capsuleers, and encouraging pilots to get out there for the next such event.

Why is this not done?

Did you suggest this in the official comments thread while the event was running?

Like personally, I don't care to have my epeen stroked, but if you wanted the list of top pve'ers in the event, then that's probably worth saying when the event is on. Clearly just like here, there are going to be many different views on what is important between different members of the community.

Devs, game designers and the teams working on these things are just ordinary people too. They can't possibly think of everything that we all might want or might find interesting. They did a hell of a good job designing and implementing the event as it was. So if there's other improvements/features we might find interesting, then surely the onus is kind of on us to let them know.

Historically CCP uses things like this to test the waters for potential future changes. Think about it like a small test market in your local town.

Generally CCP follows up with more of the same or incorporates parts that people liked into other projects. Those things take time though. CCP isn't usually quick as the "to do" list can get pretty big.

Honestly I believe this entire event was to come up with a pricing scheme for the new SP allocation modules. How better to see how much one will, compared to how much it should, cost, than a live test with something similar?

This is a signature.

It has a 25m signature.

No it's not a cosmic signature.

Probably.

This was pretty obvious to me. That's why I both loved and hated the event. As an infrequent event, it was fine. If it became a regular occurrence, then it turns Eve into grinding for or paying ISK for SP.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

Interesting!

Well I really like what the sites did in a competition point of view. In 0.4 and below, it was another arena.

The thing I liked about the Blood Raider event was that anyone could participate. Show up in a decent cruiser and you can run the sites. Incursions can't even be touched without optimal ship types, logi, and fleet boosters. There is no type of incursion you can solo. Drifter incursions, from what I've heard, are worse. While I do love running incursions myself, it'd be nice if there was a better variety of them so that everyone could participate, not just those with max vindicator skills, logi V, or max machariels. And not just fleets that require two boosters with max boosting skills on principle. If CCP was smart, that's how they'd rework drifter incursions. Let the hard core ppl have their fun, but make content accessible to everyone.

The tendency is to go the other way. Burners which are challenging but can be done with low SP if you focus on frigates and rockets are rumoured to soon be made possible only with multiple alt accounts.

That's ********. Incursions are set up so that if a booster DCs, the fleet has to stand down until they get a new one. They are literally not runnable without all 12 links going at max skills, and that's with influence at 0. I like the burner missions, but making them harder is the stupidest decision CCP could possibly make.

IDK what incursions you fly. They are completely doable wtih ongrid commandship links if you wanted to. You really just need shield/armor resists link. The rest are just gravy. Useful, for sure, but the sites are totally runable without a booster.

I sold a few boosters for 300+ mil each. So not really "not much to gain".

I ran them in an assault frigate. With lower dps then a cruiser, it still wasn't a lot of effort. Ran a couple in low sec, and was on the edge of my seat waiting to see if some the ships I saw on dscan would come into my site. (they didn't Sad ).

Ran some in a wh, and got one km.

Saved several days training time on Assault Frigates 5, made about, oh, 100 mil selling skins and a couple extra boosters- and this without running the sites aggressively. Had fun contesting a couple sites in hi sec with other players.

Aaaand, CCP put in some lore with it. I thought it was good stuff.
