Notification Api info anywhere?

I've been doing some searching but i cant seem to find anywhere that lists what the notification types in the notifications api call (char/Notifications.xml.aspx) match up to the type of message text displayed, is this something that is available to us? Or do we have to make sure our characters get one of every notification and jot down the mappings :(
Hopefully my google skills have just failed me and someone has information on this?
