Attack of the drones HUGE BUG

I was playing duo with another battlship, we had a navy issue raven and a hyperion, and we have been missioning for the past week trying to burn through them as fast as we can. We have had zero problems, but then we came across this mission.

It spawned in the first wave of drones and then kept spawning them in for no reason. I could not even warp out when I was still active tanking at 50% armor on my hyperion and lost the ship. My friend in a navy issue raven almost died too, only a few seconds after me but managed to warp out. Even when splitting the tank.

This cant be right.

EDIT: Let me clarify.

The drone waves kept spawning in like 5 seconds inbetween each other. We fought the entire mission in one go basically. The drones should have spawned as actually waves and not a tsunami.

The respawns in this mission happens when you kill one of the 4 starting drones, and they should only spawn once. Maybe you killed all triggers by accident? Drones do a lot of damage, and sounds to me like you were both warpscrammed when you tried to warp off.

- We were not warpscrambed. (ship was aligning)
- All drone wave triggers popped up in chat at once.
- Played the mission before.

Something really needs to be done, because i've had a lot of bugs recently with skill management, fittings, ect just not updating the UI. And now bad triggers. Its just really frustrating because nobody expects two mission specialized battleships to nearly get taken down by bugged drone waves all spawning in at once.

So my friend with the navy raven re-warped back in at range (something I tried to do but obviously died on the first warp out). Finally took them all down, and nothing else spawned in, so the bug is confirmed.

Working as intended.

When you don't know the difference between there, their, and they're, you come across as being so uneducated that your viewpoint can be safely dismissed. The literate is unlikely to learn much from the illiterate.

1: aligning is possible when scrambled, you just don't warp
2: strange, not working as intended
3: your argument is invalid. I lost several ships (auch) already to missions I've played so many times I can run them blindfolded, mostly due to stupid things from my side.

Insert standard *Pics or it didn't happen* quote here. Sounds to me like a stroke of bad luck from your side(s). Try a petition to get your ships back, just don't forget to include the logs!

As for the rest of your incidents, try clearing the cache if you or the game didn't already, I think this can solve a few things sometimes.

I am not arguing. The mission is bugged.

This is crazy, why would I make this up?

Thats not a reason to be skeptical though, I mean have you been duo'ing?

There are several reasons for two ships to bug the mission rather than one. Its possible nobody has reported it yet too. In my experience with providing open betas for my content in other games, very few people actually report anything, and this is out of thousands of users downloading content.

I dont think its morally right to hound someone for reporting a very obvious bug involving the mission triggers and multiple players, especially as others could be affected and it has no direct affect on you as a player either.

Its fine to post you have not experienced the bug, but all the outright skepticism is just plain.. trollish i guess

No one is saying you're making this up. What people are saying is it was most likely something on your side and not a bug.

Your best bet is to petition the admins as there is nothing more we can do. Only thing people on the forums can do is verify if this has happened to other people (it hasn't), and suggest other possible explanations (you don't accept them and/or they don't apply).

So go ahead, petition the admins to replace your ship and check to see if it's bugged.

It's not so much trollish as it is this is a common complaint. Someone claims something's bugged and it cost them their ship. It gets looked into and nothing was actually bugged, the person just missed something.

Again though, nothing anyone here can do to fix it.

Your name befits your attitude, sir

Petition and be done with it, and you might get something back, even if it is just an acknowledgment from CCP that it is indeed a bug. Anecdotal evidence from all concerned is just that - anecdotal. Only they have the capacity to see if it is as you claim, and it is bugged, or it is as the rest of the forum seems to think, and the triggers were shot and you didn't notice.

Yeah.. I'm gonna have to concur with every single other pilot in this thread and say - y'all made an error.

See... they're not waves that spawn minutes apart... the original 4 ships are each triggers that spawn each wave upon death of the original cruiser/battlecruiser. Each spawned wave has between 5 and 7 ships.

Oftentimes the NPCs pick on you as a unit. If you popped all four triggers at once (in the future, keep it no more than 2 at a time!), then according to Eve Survival you could have had up to 12 drone battleships and another 12 cruisers/battlecruisers bearing down on you. This is more than enough to take down even the strongest tanked mission boat.

As for not warping out... you're flying battleships and they align slow as molasses, especially when webbed. If you were both webbed and scrammed...

I've run this mission multiple times both pre-patch and post-patch without an issue. Each time I do, for safety sake, I 'tag' the original 4 cruisers/battlecruisers so that they're marked and I don't accidentally pop them. It'll keep such a thing from happening again in the future. :-)

It's also possible your friend in his shiny CNR wanted you to get zapped, and so he shot all of the triggers and got out, leaving you to face the music.

This possibility amuses me greatly, but I still think you should petition if you believe there has been a genuine error.

The mission is fine. You have to pay attention who you attack. Especially drones in aggresive mode.
If you are in fleet and make sure all focus on same target. But be careful with drone assign to fleet mate. Passive mode will not work, drones can attack in passive mode.

When you doing in fleet I advise to tag 4 drones after warp. So you'll know which drones in initial group and in spawn group.

Yo dawg! When you got multiple triggers in a missions, and ya bringing friends, make sure to broadcast the targets yo!

Ya know? So ya don't each shoot all the triggers in one go and spawn everything.

I always find it amuzing when someone does something dumb then blames the game lol.

From the comments:

Quote:
A) Don't pop all of the tiny drones when you warp in, or you'll aggro everything.
B) Yeah, don't think of using explosive damage. That was just useless.

And yes, I've done that in Attack of the Drones and almost didn't get out. It's not a bug.

Was going to post the EvE Survival page but got beat to it.
You should have a bookmark to that site and refer to it often, even mission vets forget.
The mission is not bugged it is working as intended you just got careless and popped all of the triggers at once probably because they got lost in the sea of red. seen that happend more than a few times.
Tagging targets, in this case the ones you do not want others to shoot is extremely helpful in preventing this problem use it.

Coordination between 2 or more players in alot of missions can be tricky, again tagging targets to the rescue.

Captain Kok wrote:

No such thing as splitting tank in level 4 missions the rats attack anyone or everyone based on a series of factors.
Your attempt ot warp out my have triggered the NPC to attack your friend.
And when you died he did gain agro from everything in the pocket.
EWAR use is a big one for attracting NPC fire, learn to use this to your advantage by switching the ship that is using EWAR drawing a majority of the fire in many missions giving the other a chance for their tank to recover.

I know it is popular to say that 500 - 600 dps tank is more than enough for all level 4 missions and that is true as long as you properly manage the NPC groups and agro. However as you found out when it goes wrong for any reason 500 - 600 dps tank is worthless.
To prevent a loss like this in the future and especially when running missions as a group I suggest that you look at 800 - 1,000 dps tank as a reasonable level to give some extra protection against errors the other person may make.

And the answer is yes I spend more time running lvl 4's in a fleet with others than I do running them solo. And usually those fleet members are new players prone to making mistakes like shooting the triggers because they do not read the EvE Survival pages, or because they cannot or will not follow instructions on how to handle tagged targets.

Ran Attack of the Drones today with two characters. No problems reported here. OP, is it possible you had drones out that might have auto-aggro'd the initial 4 cruisers?

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.
