Camera Shy (Cam) grew up in the heart of Amarr culture, born to a commoner family in Y.C. 58 just outside the capital city of Dam-Torsad on Amarr Prime.

At the young age of 8, Cam witnessed a horrific act that forever traumatized him. One day while walking the streets with his father, he saw a Minmatar girl, roughly 16-years-old, being savagely beaten by an Amarr Holder. He recalled the agony in her eyes as she gave up on fighting back, accepting her fate. Cam’s father explained that she was just a Minmatar and that she was inferior to Amarr. Even at the age of 8, Cam knew his father was wrong. Years later, he still could not get the girl’s face out of his mind. He thought about the atrocities committed by the Empire and its citizens constantly. He knew something had to be done to fix the situation, but he didn’t know what he could do.

In Y.C. 77, at the age of 19, Cam came across another scene reminiscent of before. A young Minmatar girl being repeatedly smacked for failing at some trivial task her master demanded. Having earlier in the day been publicly criticized for his anti-slavery beliefs, Cam was in no mood for witnessing this. He intervened, confronting the slave master, demanding he not behave so violently toward the poor girl, but the master dismissed him as if Cam was an idiot and smacked the girl again just to antagonize him. At that point, Cam decided to use force. In the fight that ensued, the slave master suffered significant head trauma upon its impact against a nearby wall. He died shortly after.

Within moments people were shouting at Cam, accusing him of murder and calling for authorities. He knew if he was caught, he would be executed. His previous life was over. He had no choice but to run. After several days on the run, he came across a freighter heading for Gallente Space. With no where left to go, he snuck aboard.

Cam spent the next couple decades drifting through Gallente space, making contacts along the way. Finally, in Y.C. 111, at 53-years-old, he obtained capsuleer technology from a black market with the help of his contacts.

As of this year, Y.C. 113, Cam resides as a lonely miner and manufacturer in the far reaches of space unable to reveal his true identity to anyone without risk to his life.
