I foresee this resulting in many people sending you free laptops.

Good luck with getting someone's old laptop

My experience of an old laptop is one about 2+ years old with all ranges of issues (generally speaking you don't want one anyway).

I have advice but will stay my tongue as this is not the thread for "straight talk"

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

Then you either bought the wrong one, or don't know how to maintain and upgrade it properly.

I got mine 4 years ago and it is still running both my accounts at 1080p60 with everything on high except post processing and shadows.

If it was running fine previously you just need to clear out all the file/program clutter -- "ccleaner" might do the job. If it's overheating then you need to do a search on how to clear out all the accumulated dust around the fans.

If you are just trying to game a new laptop then carry on.

Maybe after 16 years your hardware deserves to be put to rest. Buy a new one.

programs like "ccleaner" only add to the problem. Dont use that garbage.

backup your data and reformat / fresh install windows. clone the disk image to a file and back it up to a dvd or usb stick so you can easily reflash the fresh install whenever you need

I foresee this getting a lock, because it's a violation of the EULA.
