going to try using the harpy for running level 1 and level 2 missions.

i have 2 ideas but i would like feedback on what people think is better and why so that i could maybe learn from it.
i am using power grid management level 5 and cpu management level 4.

Fit #1:
3X "tech one" light electron blaster (antimatter)
1X "tech two" medium shield booster
3X "tech two" cap recharger
3X "tech two" capacitor power relay
NOTES: the build is cap stable, so the booster can be turned on indefinitey.

Fit #2:
4X "tech one" light electron blaster (antimatter)
4X "tech two" shield recharger
3X "tech two" shield power rely
NOTES: i recharge 23 shield hp per second and total recharge time for the whole shield is 114 seconds

thank you

The optimal bonus on the hull makes for an amazing rail boat. means you'll apply damage better at range, don't have to fly around like a headless chicken and can get away with using an AB. It's not like you need a huge amount of dps in Lv1 and lv2s.

Seriously though, get T2 guns and run around with 70km optimal with Spike or 20km optimal with CN AM.

Neither.

You do PvE to earn moniez/standings.
You earn moniez/standings by completing missions.
To earn more moniez you have to complete more missions.
To complete more missions you must complete them faster.
To complete missions faster you need to trigger mission objectives faster.
A general mission objective trigger is "kill a subset of objects present in a mission grid".
Since you don't have a button "kill this object" you have to kill it by doing damage with your guns.
To do damage with your guns, the object has to be within firing range, which is generally not the case upon warpin.
To get within firing range you have 3 options:
1) Increase firing range
2) Move to the object
3) Move the object to you.

How to do it faster?

3) Moving the object to you is generally not an option. Tractor beams don't work on objects that have to be shot, and the objects themselves aren't very keen on moving fast enough into your firing range (and some of them prefer to move out of it).
1) Blasters are not a long range weapon. Increasing their range is not an option. Generally speaking, rails would be a wiser choice, especially because they synergize well with the harpy's double optimal bonus. If you have rails, you don't need to move as much as with blasters for pve.
2) To move to the object faster you can use a propmod - an AB or an MWD. For PvE it's a matter of taste more or less.

Tank is generally not an issue on level 1 and level 2 missions. And the faster you complete the mission, the less tank you need.

Consider something like this

[Harpy, Harpy pve noob]

Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Micro Auxiliary Power Core I

1MN Y-S8 Compact Afterburner
Medium Shield Extender II

150mm Prototype Gauss Gun, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
[Empty High slot]

Small Core Defense Field Extender I
Small Core Defense Field Extender I

modules of your choice into 2 empty mids

It should fit reasonably well, tank good enough and shoot far enoug to stay out of npc frig range while doing reasonable damage.

ok.
an afterburn or micro warp drive might help speed things up..

Yep an afterburner or microwarpdrive. And as mentioned you probably want to use railguns. You don't need to active tank when you are moving fast. A shield extender fit will be fine.

When you have a few more skillpoints for them you can do level 4 missions with them but I advise you not to do that until all the skills are at level V.

For now level 3 or 4 will be fine so you can try out other things of interest. When you have found something you like doing you still can train the skills to level V like advanced weapon upgrades.

In the beginning this looks like it will take ages but level 4 will be fine for quite some time, so don't worry about this.

The magic word is damage mititagtion which you can only do with a propulsion module. Also don't put it in your head that you have to have tech 2 gear, you don't.

With progression over time you might start to collect loot from drops and propulsion modules drop like flies so you don't need to buy one and since we have a very new module tiericde going on, none of them is bad anymore.

Eve Minions is recruiting.

This is the law of ship progression!

Dude is new, and people reckon he should go passive? I can agree with using rails. Easier than blasters for sure. But I doubt op knows much about manual piloting. I think he should go active if possible. Still they are only level 1 and 2 so maybe not.

yeah. it depends. i don't use auto pilot. i don't even know where that button is. i just look at the overview menu on the right and watch for red triangles to pop up so i can right click for the menu. very easy to do.

poor noobss can't get rigs to just toss on...plus, gurrista is thermal and kinetic, so i should be ok.
afterburner is working well...i think my average speed is a bit over 600 meters per second.
the damage i currently do seems to be adequate.
poor noobss can't get scripts. my harpy seemed to already have good locking speed as it was, before i made this thread.
i might get around to using the microwarpdrive i picked up ysterday as a drop.
ok overall.

Yes, this is true.
My thought process was to go for ships first, before the getting the parts for said ships.
T2 for everything seems to be the "status quo" for mostly everything..so T2 ship full of T2 modules seems completely fine.

People on the forums are quite jaded, I don't think they know what someone excited about the game looks like Lol
