If you are adding Homeworld style controls to things like fighters and doomsdays, it will be very nice to have bearing and elevation on our overlays. Especially in first person mode where looking around may be more difficult.

Titan FC calls for "Billy Doomsday Starting at bearing 170 degrees, elevation 35 degrees up end at bearing 25 degrees, elevation -70 degrees."

Carrier FC calls "Send all fighter squadrons to bearing 90 degrees elevation 10 degrees, distance 50KM"

Small gang FC: "align bearing 160 degrees 0 elevation, burn burn!"

FC calls for scout to make a ping: "i want a ping off X gate 250km, 50 degrees, elevation 20, burn ceptor!"

Not only will it add another dimension of gameplay, new tactical possibilities, coordination to bombing runs, but it sounds epic.

Inb4 Iain Cariaba shows up in thread.

Issue is, bearing and elevation and all directional movement is ship specific, not solar system specific.
So you may end up with ships going all over the place trying to go to where the FC called to.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

Obviously the OP is suggesting that the bearing be normalized for all pilots. This is one of those details that doesn't need to be stated because if you can figure out where the problem is, you already know how to fix it.

FT Diomedes: "Reaver, sometimes I wonder what you are thinking when you sit down to post."

Frostys Virpio: "We have to give it to him that he does put more effort than the vast majority in his idea but damn does it sometime come out of nowhere."

This would be a lot of fun to be able to set a direction rather than having to guestimate it from eye.
And very submarine like so appropriate for EVE :)

Exactly. I thought it went without saying but ....

You do realize we already have Space North on the compass around your capacitor, right?
What else do you want?

My first post is pretty clear... Bearings and elevation numbers on tactical overlay.
