Simple change to balance out logistics

All remote assistance modules gain "Disallows Assistance = True." Force logistics ships to rely on their own tank/cap boosters/piloting to survive. Leave everything else alone. Thoughts?

In one fell swoop, you make the basilisk and guardian totally and utterly worthless, while the other two are merely really, really bad.

I think the nerf I propose would probably require some rebalancing in general of the logistics ships to make them more self sustainable, now that I think of it, but the point would be to make logistics independent actors that could at least be taken out by a determined fleet instead of indefinitely repaired by other logistics ships.

And in the process, make them unusable in incursions (no idea how you'd run those without logi), worthless in large fleet fights...hell, make them useless in anything above a five man gang.

If you were a logistics in a small gang, you would fit for buffer and survive long enough to do your job. If you were in a larger fleet with lots of logistics and targeted, you would just turn off your modules and call for reps. The enemy fleet would have a small window to shoot and kill you before your modules deactivated, but after that, you could just be repaired as normal until the enemy fleet switched targets.

What I don't understand is why all of a sudden everybody seems to think logi is OP. I don't remember any logi OP threads a few months ago, and all of a sudden you see a new one every week. Is my memory foggy, or is it like a virus, where one person sees that thread, thinks up their own idea, posts it, and then it spreads throughout the forums?

This is a signature.

It has a 25m signature.

No it's not a cosmic signature.

Probably.

Btw my corp's recruiting.

Could be. I used to see such threads every so often, then as you said it disappeared for a while before coming back up again. I am guilty of taking part in this "virus", as the idea of a game mechanic that scales that well sounds like bad game design, so I thought about and posted upon it. But my idea didn't gain traction either. So be it.

No...

T1 logi can be setup cap stable and rep pretty good but their defence is crap...

T2 logi are useless solo.. they have good defences but $hit for cap and require a cap chain to be stable..
You jam them and break the cap chain and they will be sol in 10 secs..
Personally I think T2 logi are crap and broken the way they are considering how much they cost..

I fit up a Basilisk once...
Then I threw it back on the market 5 mins later and went back to using my osprey which repped just as well and was cap stable..
And was much cheaper...

I have to admit i have never gotten the rage against logi... We kill them all the time even when they have friends, our line docterines bristle with jams/neuts/damps/etc to deal with them...

And if you have more people, sure the logi gets linearly more heals but you also get linearly more alpha...

Not to mention that as mentioned earlier in this thread people use logi for stuff other then pvp...

@Rentus, Basis and Guardians arent intended for use solo no... but a scimi or an oneiros totally can be used solo and often are...
