How is player population roughly divided between H / L / N / W ?

Among all active Eve players who primarily stay in one general area, how (roughly) is the population divided between high-sec dwellers, low-sec, null-sec, and w-space? I'm not looking for precise answers or region/area-specific adjustments, just general estimates that view the 4 types of space as a whole across all of New Eden. Is it more like
H: 80% L: 5% N: 10% W: 5%, or more of a
H: 60% L: 15% N: 15% W: 10%, or something else?

Reminder: Exclude players who don't play very often, and exclude players who frequently hop from one type of space to the other.

I just saw a graph with this the other day but it was a link in reddit so I'm not tracking it down right now.

As i remember: counting only players that have logged in at least once in the past week, null and high have a similar player count. Null entitles without good ratting space probably have a large number of mission alts in highsec, so how would you want to consider those players as part of the count?

That is an excellent question that I hadn't even considered.

I think the reason this started being interesting to me is I started wondering, "if a player wanted to live a hermit life-style for awhile in Eve, maybe a few months, and run into generally as few players as possible, while still hopping around a little bit, where would they head?" The answer, I'm speculating, is W-space or low-sec, or maybe back-pockets way out in Null. But I'm honestly not sure, so I figured I'd poke around a little bit on the forums.

And yes, I do realize Eve is designed and more geared toward group-play and activities; I'm just curious about where the places are for a hermit style of role playing. (Assuming the hermit is alert, experienced, and generally aware of their surroundings enough to avoid conflict when necessary.)

Because alts and because multiple accounts it's extremely difficult to come up with accurate statistics.

Null sec ratting alt here :)

This is basically what I do. If I am not afk doing something, and not in a fleet running around, then I am out making isk, and do most of that solo, and without even considering if I have blues anywhere nearby. Never been in a situation where I needed to call in help, its either over to fast, or I get away clean anyway.

So here is what you probably don't know: At any given time, there are 0 people in most null systems. Even 2 jumps out from a major mission hub, you will often find 1 or 2 people for hours on end.

You will seldom be alone in local for a full hour, but, the VAST majority of people are on there way somewhere or otherwise occupied. In many places, it will be hours or days before you see combat probes, and when you do, a few minutes of warping around and playing probe chicken will get most people to move on to another target.

Will you always get away clean? No. Will you always see it coming? not a chance. However, if you can kill rats reasonably fast, while watching local and d-scan (start with low level missions) then you can make the value of a faction ship with T2 fits several times over before you lose it, most of the time.

There are several skills to learn in order to stay alive, and you will be tested on all of them.... but....for the post part, you can do it while watching a TV show. The real danger in eve is the other players, but space is pretty big, and you look like everyone else most of the time.

oh dear should ccp just super nova low sec or nul sec since most play in high sec no wonder the pvp players hate the carebears poor souls the hardcore pvp players must be bored to tears , perhaps give them a arena 6 on 6 battles 12 on 12 battles to at least give them something to do .

perhaps a poll is needed everyone to vote then at least 1 vote for every account with a list of things that could help

This chart is fairly recent https://twitter.com/ccpquant/status/590881142607347714

Generally a search for CCP Quant will get you any publicly available statistics.

I swear you are trying to wind me up, if so, well done, gf.

I actually think this should happen. given EvE sells based on stories out of null (or losec) and 'this is EvE' videos, yet we put new players on an endless pve hamster wheel in hisec. Player groups like Pandemic Horde and Brave try to increase newbro engagement rescuing newbros from hisec, but its going to take bold mechanics changes too IMHO to ever reach critical mass, and fend off competitors to come.

The Great Wildlands is a giant NPC nullsec region with only a couple of stations.

Eve's boonies basically. The perfect place to enjoy the cold emptiness of space, find your spirit animal and grow a beard.

Would there be any data/relic exploration sites available? Or, since it's not upgraded-SOV space (which I kind of understand), would data / relic sites be few and far between?

Depending on time of day, the more remote parts of Khanid lowsec you can often go 2 or 3 jumps without seeing anyone in local.

Yup there's plenty. Afaik system upgrades are focused around the warpable combat anomalies rather than exploration sites.

I suspect that CCP has a weath of data on this and they choose not to share it for reasons only they know.
I wish they would share some of it. to know more about the game and it's player base would be interesting and could serve to bolster or break down many of the things that are held as truths in this game.
