• Scamming and unethical behavior some would consider griefing is not only allowed, it is encouraged and rewarded by the game mechanics.
• Harrasment or real-life threats are not ok, and you can get a shiny ban for them. Learn the difference

I don't know where you are from or who your parents were. But where I come from unethical behavior is no different than harassment or threats. They pretty much all fall under the morals blanket. Morals were you parents responsibility to teach you at a young age. If you find scamming and unethical behavior ok, then they failed. And now we have identified the issue with this game.

Don't let a game encourage you to toss away toss those valuable lessons you learned from your parents as a child. Don't let a game blur the lines between right and wrong. Remember there are real people at the other end of those pixels, treat them as you would any other human being.

If you play be these statements, then you live by them.

Ok, here's the implied part of that first statement that seems to have gone right over your head.

Quote:
In-game-context scamming and unethical behavior...is encouraged...

If somebody is scamming you for play-money or imaginary assets in a video game, that is only unethical in the sense that they are roleplaying an unethical behavior in a role playing game. It's no different than, say, carjacking someone in a Grand Theft Auto game or killing their pawns in chess. Of course carjacking and murder are unethical in the real world, as is scamming, but in a game in which those are an accepted part of gameplay they are perfectly fine.

If you want to roleplay as a character that hates in-game scamming then feel free to do so. If you are actually serious, though, then I suggest you get down off your high horse, take a few steps back from your computer and have a look around, then ask yourself honestly if imaginary game assets and real assets are actually morally equivalent. If the answer is yes, then I recommend that you give up video games for a few years.

ah yes, the old reliable justification for your actions. "it's just a game." Why not makes as much sense as the twinky defense.

He's been flogging this same horse for a year, if you look at his profile. Which means that not only does he have no questions to ask, but he's not a new player either.

So... OP please tell us where the bad spacemen touched you quickly before this appallingly inappropriate thread gets locked.

No touching recently. I just don't buy the "it's just a game" copout. Or CCP's contention that harassment and threats are any different than scamming or dishonesty. By even making this comparison they are admitting that it is more than a game.

Reported for ranting.

In-game scamming is perfectly viable, since it is a part of the game and nothing of worth is at stake. At the end of the day, you will only lose some pixels and some of your time.

If you cannot distinguish between digital items and real life items, then you should, as already pointed out by someone else, take a break from gaming for a while so that you don't take it so seriously.

So CCP has only made the two statements that you've quoted, and they do not include any sort of justification or analysis (psychological, ethical, or moral) on what is allowed and what is not. It's simply two statements: this is what you can do, and this is what you cannot do.

All of the justifications that you oppose, they come from the player base. This is who we are; liars, cheaters, assholes. We don't give a **** what you think or what you do with your respect, and we don't give a **** about your proposed code of conduct.

On the other hand, you ARE insulting our real world relatives (specifically, parents) in your post, and I believe that's against the terms of service.

Have you ever killed a rat in game? Has your ship ever exploded? Those ships have NPC crew members onboard that you just murdered! How can you as a moral and ethical person support murdering innocent people like that?

You should be ashamed of yourself.
