So, here's a little backstory: I'm a mediocre trader and huckster based in various trade hubs. I also peddle cheap goods at high prices in null and W-space.
Now, I've been tailing a big mining fleet today in Immensea in my spy-fit Heron, then all hell breaks loose - 40+ bombers all drop out of nowhere on the poor miners and blow them to oblivion. However, these guys weren't CODE., they were Bomber's Bar.
However, I spotted a known associate of mine in the midst of the slaughter. I initiated a private discussion and sent my regards, but he told me of a bunch of loot that he wanted to get off his hands - some dead-space modules and a faction tracker, all piling up to a pretty big amount of ISK. He's my usual supply man - he brings me his loot, I buy it for 15% over the normal price and peddle it at higher prices, thus getting my profit. So we travel to a friendly station where we waited for the boss of the controlling corp to get on and let my loot-buddy inside. We traded, I paid him 115% of the estimated price and I passed the goods on to other buyers for a high price. They buy, they always do.

But now, sh*t is about to hit the fan. My associate received an alarming mail asking him to give back the items to BB and they had the logs with the time and name of each item that he took, counted down to the second!
He forwarded the mail to me and, of course, I scolded him, as I don't accept logged items - the bombers probably found out that some items in the KM were missing. How they tracked it to my supplier, I have no idea (possibly "loot log" was turned on). So if he's in trouble, I'm in trouble. I don't want no bombers ruining my enterprise and screwing up my reliable resource tap.

Suggestions?

Damn doesn't that suck.

Oh, I perfectly understand, Hal Morsh — a mission like this requires courage, skill, and heroism… qualities you are clearly lacking. Have you forgotten you're one of the bloody immortals!?

Since you don't seem to have pvp experience or any muscles around to protect your business, i suggest you make friends instead of enemies.

Time to spit out the iskies, learn & move on.

That or make it interesting... hire mercs, go to war, pew pew, put up some killmails/videos Pirate

Been around since the beginning.

you bought the items in good faith from a regular supplier and sold them in the same manner as always right?
as long as there was no collusion on your part as to the origin of the items, I would say the burden of making it right with BB lies squarely on your supplier's shoulders.

of course, if you knew those were pilfered goods and still made the deal?, then that's squarely on you.

Was there, interesting story. The rule of BB is that the high value loot goes to the hunter and other better stuff to the Bar for the Bomber Care (SRP) program. The guy who looted the Skiff left the fleet shortly after, so he was sent a mail to hand over the shiny stuff to the hunter requesting it. You are in no way in trouble, the guy who sold the stuff to you just can give the ISK to BB. Don't worry, it's not your problem.

EDIT: every fleet has a loot history record (who took what when), you can export before closing the fleet.

Tell the truth. You are a buyer and seller. Not your issue or concern if the supply had an issue. Buddy needs to pass the cash. If their higher ups bring issue to you, turn it around as a business opportunity. They all should be selling to you. Fast sales, but good supply.

There's no way out of this buddy, I'm afraid.

The only way to come out of this any way ahead is to contract all of these tainted modules to me (I have a particularly effective washing solution I could apply to them), and go into hiding. I will take care of these things, at no cost to you, my friend :)

Only one thing for your buddy to do initially if he values the relationship with BB:

Tell them the truth and explain his misunderstandings and ask for a way to compensate/make up for his error.

No point hiding, lying or even trying to get the stuff back. He just needs to be open and honest. Most people respect it when people are genuine and sorry.

You paid him 115%?

He can just pay em the fair value then and still have profit.

It's none of your concern.

Their problem is with him, not with you. Since you paid him over the odds for the loot in the first place, he can hand over the ISK to them should he wish to do so.

BB and to a lesser extent Spectre has always had a "loot of a faction/deadspace/officer type is ours" to keep funding ops. Blops and fuel etc is not free. However that whole issue is between BB and the guy that looted the field. It has nothing to do with you.

Typically you get a warning for not ponying up the loot or the ISK. Next time you get banned.

Well fun is also good.
