Internet Data Usage THROUGH THE ROOF!!!!

I recently wanted to start up my old account (Disclaimer: which this toon is not on) so I updated my game and made a trial account to check how much internet the game was using.

I haven't had issues before I've played on crap internet before with this game and have no issues. BUT when I login and play with doing nothing like just sitting there in space as soon as a made my new toon I'm using 250-300 kB/s. I've noticed the interface has changed a lot since I've last played but why the sudden increase in data usage.

I can't play with that kind of internet usage have limited data a month that 5 people use.

Any ideas, was this a recent change with last update? I looked into the forums and found some topic on this subject and most of them from 2011-2015 say data usage should be about 20-50MB/hr that about 5-13kB/s. I'm GETTING 50 times that!!

Any ideas will be appreciated, just want to enjoy the game again.

Launch with just the client, and see how much data it uses?

They've changed the game installation to be "on demand", meaning that when you first install the game it doesn't download everything, and then as you fly around or play the game it downloads more of itself.

You can open the Launcher, click the Settings sprocket, and switch down to the last tab (on the left) called Download, and click the "Download all the resource files" box at the bottom. This will hit you with however many GB of patch data, but after it's all downloaded your game will use much less bandwidth to play.

is it set up to download on demand? The new install is set up to get players in game asap, so only downloads the most important bits and picks up the rest as it goes. the only way I can see it downloading that much is if you didn't download the whole client and are downloading parts as you need them. there is an option in the launcher somewhere to download the whole game. Hopefully once everything is installed you won't use too much data while playing.

sitting on the jita undock I'm seeing under 100 Kilobytes per minute in the data monitor (ctrl+shift+alt+m)

in my task manager I'm seeing around 20 Kbps (probably less given I'm eyeballing it) with 2 eve clients + pandora streaming.

Eve is not a game I'd recommend for those with a very low usage cap it really sounds like you need to consider changing your provider to one with no caps & no throttling.

Some of us just have **** connections due to the lines where we live being old, exchanges not upgraded, etc. which means having to resort to dongles and ****.
