To those that responded with a modicum of understanding and/or empathy: thank you for being better.

To the rest: thank you for proving my point.

you lose a poorly fitted Retriever in Lowsec and start calling others "socially-challenged degenerates". This was all your fault.

I'm usually not that guy, but...

You're exactly the type.of degenerate he's talking about. What type of sad person goes to look on a kill board purposely to come and have a go and try belittle him and make some assumption he's left because of that.

To be honest he's right eve has some of the worse people playing it. It is full of absolute idiot but there are about 20% that are decent folk

Goodbye.

I always wonder when I see posts like this. I mostly meet pretty nice people.

Must be the people you associate with, maybe the OP should stop associating with socially challenged degenerates.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I don't think your statistics are accurate.

If you take just the forums, which are a very small portion of the playerbase, look at the posts in Newbie Questions / Answers, all of the various profession sub-forums, Features and Ideas Discussion, etc., and just in general any subforum other than General Discussion, and you'll rarely see complete "degenerates"; it's mostly decent, helpful replies.

General Discussion tends to be pretty bad, but basically my point is if you compare the number of posts in GD vs. the number of posts in the other sub-forums, you get way more than 20% "decent people".

This game certainly does not have the pink fuzzy helpful atmosphere that you find in PVE games like WoW, SWTOR, etc., because we pvp here.

I'd guess that the general attitude is nobody cares about you; you're not special in any way, so why should they care?

Personally, I'm somewhat sad to see another player decide to quit, but it's a game, people quit it when it's no longer fun for them. I've taken multi-year breaks; depends on what the devs are implementing and whether the features are interesting to me. Without sarcasm, good luck with other games.

considering we've all screwed up, and most of us far worse than a retriever in lowsec, and have bounced back and have now gotten to wherever we are now, I don't really have a problem with the responses. had the OP shown up looking for advice we would all (okay maybe not all, but most of us) be gladly helping him and sharing stories of our screw ups and having a good laugh. Instead they showed up and called most of us nutters. Rather than sink time in writing a quality post to help, most of the previous posters recognize the op is on the way out no matter what they say and are using the thread for cheap/easy laughs.

adapt or die. and in this case it is adapt or call everyone else crazy and quit instead of admitting you have an option to adapt.

I think that the poor ISDs are getting tired either locking or moving these type of threads; they must have a shortcut key by now.

That's just your trolling style where you like to post hoping for a response.

You're alright though. Crazy, but otherwise ok.

OP, sorry you feel that way. It's not my experience in the game and I generally meet extremely friendly people, even those I'm in direct conflict with in game, or those with completely different views on things. Move the character aside and the people I meet are some of the nicest I'd ever hope to come across.

To me, the community is a lot tougher judging itself than the reality of it. Most people here are pretty good.

Just my opinion though, so no more valid or correct than yours. Just different.

Hey OP.

Sorry you feel like this is a reason for leaving this game.
But just to clarify things:
When you start a low sec roam, see a retriever in a belt with a Character as old as yours there is really no way People are not engaging you. Thats what you signed up for when you decided to mine or do any stuff at all in low sec.
Plus, you basically cried out in local and insulted us.
Well, you got your answer for that. Be glad your pod got away.

If your reaction is not like" Mean SoBs killed me and took my ****" you might even get a good Response.
I met some very nice People by getting killed by them^^
You might want to try that some time. Blink

Your first forum post, and already you're lying. I called you what you are only after you blew up my ship. If you felt insulted by it, that's on you. Before that, what I said was, "Wait! Please. I'm broke." I didn't even deploy drones. Your response? Gunfire. So you can get right off your high horse, because you're nothing more than an honor-less bandit (and not even a good one. 5 mil, you said?) - e.g. the dregs of society. In this case, EVE society - though, how one behaves and interacts with others in a game is a reflection of one's personality, so I can't imagine you're much better in real life.

You'll also note that I didn't name names. That you have identified yourself is on you.

I also only posted this response because I'm not going to sit by and allow you to lie about what happened. The rest of what has been posted has been either accurate or opinion, neither of which I'm going to argue against. The idea that you blew up my ship because I insulted you, however, is false.

I see no lie, did you or did you not whine in local?

Her point is, if you would have been understanding that your loss was no one's fault but your own and maybe asked what you should have done differently instead of crying like a child then their response would have been entirely different.

It was more like
1st: Engagement
2nd whine ("I´m broke" yeah...)
3rd ship Explosion.
4th insults and ragequit.
As I said, maybe next time just ask politely why stuff happened to you. Most People would explain, I certainly would.

And about identifying myself: well, everyone can read killboards, which were linked.^^

Some advice: stab your Retriever, stay aligned, look at DScan, still be prepared to lose ship if things go wrong.
And this is A LOT more advice than you deserve imho.

And allow me one last comment concerning this Topic:
You really call someome "dregs of Society" because of a game? Tells a lot about you..

PS: 2nd and last post in this topic^^

Edit: Paranoid, that "Fix the Prospect" link is AWESOME Lol

I don't need to ask why it happened, because I know. I try to avoid PvP, so when it's forced upon me, I am generally unprepared. People like you are completely lacking in empathy while playing this game, so I received none. Hence, my ship was destroyed.

Simple.

And by the way, I really am/was (already canceled my sub) broke, upon coming back to the game for a whole two days after having been gone for over a year. I cannot even rebuy the Retriever. I was "forced" into low-sec because my mission agent restricted my L4 mission to frigates or smaller, meaning I need an AF, the equipment for which I lack the skills. My only goal is to make enough money to buy a PLEX, so while training those skills, I thought to try mining. I quickly discovered how little I'd be making mining in high-sec, so I thought to try low-sec to find something slightly more worth my time. Instead, I find people like you waiting for people like me. This isn't the first time, but it is the last.

You guys are in denial. We are the dregs of society. Some here go to great lengths to build up their or their crew's personal dregs of society brand. But we might just be RPing. Probably we only do it while we're hanging out in the great towel-snapping space locker room of EVE. Once you log on, it's snap and be snapped. Them's the rules. Smile
