No such thing as insta-locking anymore. Any Interceptors immune.

Gate camping today for lolz.

5977 scan res, being remote sebo'd. Pre-activated long point. Clicked crow in overview. Crow appears on top of my screen, as a successful lock, module attempts to activate, I continually get the message

"target is invulnerable"

I get this every time I try to lock interceptors.

Is insta-locking a myth now? Is it unachievable?

Any ship with an align time less than 2 seconds is going to be very nearly impossible to catch unless you have basically 0 latency (live in London), and even then, it's a crapshoot.

It's comes down to basic game mechanics. On a ship with a 1.5s align time, he decloaks on 1 tick, you lock him on the second, and by the time the 3rd comes around, he is already off-grid. You can't lock a target and activate a module on it in the same tick, it takes two.

You can visualize it like this:

4 If he hasn't warped, this
1 tick 2 he hits warp and decloakes 3 You lock him is where your primed module would activate
|___________________|________________|____________i_________|
somewhere in between 3 and 4 the server
processes that he has spent enough time aligning
and considers him "warped"

EDIT: Okay, well, the forums butchered my cool little graph. Sorry. =\

I tried.

Nothing has changed, except maybe the latency between you and the server and possibly your reaction time.

You don't just need to be good you have to also be lucky.

Then again same applies to covops outside null.

This has been a thing for quite some time. Server ticks are every second, so any ship with less than 2 seconds align time is practically impossible to lock. Rough breakdown:

1. Ship you want to pew sends warp command and begins aligning.
2. On the next server tick, you see the pewable ship show up on grid.
3. You begin lock.
4. On the next server tick, ship will be locked.
5. Ship had 1.5 sec align time so the lock never made it.
6. Use smartbombs.

I think its quite fair, people should not be able to forcefully stop anyone from going through a gate ( by stop i mean for fear of dying if they try ) .

I believe if people have the means then some of them should succeed ..else you'd be seeing nothing but gate camps ..everywhere...always..all the frickin time..

i was told anything above 3400 scan res is pointless and has no extra benefit

Takes me back to the early eve days where i would gatecamp in a raven with full seborack , could lock and scram a frig before they hit warp ... Lol

This has been true since forever. However, it did not matter when Interceptors could get trapped in a Bubble. At this point, the only way to half-way reliably kill Interceptors is a Disco.

To be fair, that's comfortably one of the most hilarious ways to chill with friends and get drunk of an evening. The kills are hilarious every time.

This is true, however the person must know what he is doing and than it is still a 50/50 coin toss, depending on the skill of the smartbomber. Inties are really really hard to catch with smartbombs.

Smartbombs are a relic of looong ago and they haven't been tweaked since i can even remember. They should get a bit more damage thou, the T1 and T2 ship buff really nerfed it into a pods and shuttle thing.

Latency is the key factor. If you have none, and he has a 1-2 second latency; you can catch him.

does this apply to undocking from a station and aligning to jump to a gate and still being unable to be locked and scrammed?
