I was not sure where to start this. So I will try here.

The Amaar strike me as simliar as people during The European Renaissance.

It was an era of science and change. One of these changes was an explosion of grimoires.

I know this is odd, but is there any Amarrian lore concerning such heretical practices?

To find the enemy, one must know them.

Amarr are white baby boomer entitled religious zealot bigots who have it all and want even more, oppress everyone, don't like change, don't like others, don't even like eachother and they show off their wealth by flying ships made of gold.

Think of it as a 70 year old pedantic loud mouth white racist driving his/her Cadillac, owning all the land, extorting the people who rent any property and generally being an asswipe, while going to church on sunday.

Lore will have nothing to do with "knowing your enemy" so don't bother.
Let me rephrase that just a little, if you are into the lore and background story of the game simply because you enjoy that part of a game then go for it. If you think that knowing th lore will help you know the real players you are going to face in the game then forget it, it will not help one little bit.

On the other hand, there is an enclave of Amarr RP that the OP may interested in: the folks down in Providence. There may be some like-minded people to check out.

The enemy are witches and their ilk who devaited from proper ritual and protocol. That is why we, Amarr lost so much. To know their spirtual deviances, is to know the signs of one is about. Which make it easier to track them down.

Conform to the proper way to God or else.

If you want to explore lore for role-playing purposes, you might be interested in posting these queries (in character) at the Intergalactic Summit forum here.

There are several players who are very knowledgable about Amarr practices - notably Samira Kernher (whom you could perhaps eve mail).

Aside from RP, as respondents here have said, lore makes little difference to gameplay.

BTW, if you go to Providence, don't hack off the residents by calling them 'heretics'. The majority are dedicated Amarr RPers, and whilst they have a very progressive NRDS policy (not red, don't shoot) they also have a comprehensive Kill On Sight list and long, long memories.

Tricky, best way will be through humour rather than anything else,
it's about the only way you will get people like me(PvP meta focused) to play along.

That said I wish you luck.

The colour of ships is supposedly from the predominant material in that region space (though T1 ships are only made of minerals), notably the colour of the carbide.

Stars in their systems are the same colour as well.

... and of course Amarr do flaunt their power and wealth.

The witch comment was an attempt at humor. I shall try better.

I do know the Amarr have beliefs about vampires, at least according to one of their ship's description.

Nah that was good for a beginner, as you learn the lore the comedy will show itself.

Well there is lore of vampires who lie with men at night. The unfortenate sots who do end up with a guant look on their face, white hair or bald.

A typical amarrian male to me.

For that exact reason any true Amarr should despise what happens in Providence. It breeds weakness, they welcome outsiders to profit from Amarrian space and they're not even lead by an Amarrian.

It's a disgrace really.
