How to measure success in Eve? And how would you do it for your own?

"The message is that there are known knowns. There are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say there are things that we now know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know" - CCP

Logging off for the day with a smile on my face.

Perhaps because I had tons of pvp fun, perhaps because some retards got put in their place through "nefarious ways", perhaps I made a killing with exploration, perhaps because I helped some newbie understand the "true EVE" opening his eyes, perhaps because I helped a small corp of upstarts learn to defend themselves against wardecs and asshats (like me). Or just perhaps I just logged in, chatted with a whole bunch of people while getting absolutely nothing done at all but still had a good time.

If I continue to enjoy myself I am being successful.

I play as I wish in the manner that I wish and choose when I answer to anothers call.

CCP has paid my way for three years and I will not begrudge the money when I once again have to pay my own sub nor will I scrabble and scratch for isk to try to 'play for free'

By my own rules . . . .I am winning

Enjoying the game on your own terms is success.

Parking up in a quiet system and putting the damsel in more distress.

There's no school like the old school and I've been expelled.

When you manage to translate the time/knowledge/effort spent in EVE back into the real world.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Tricking forumites into showing how egocentric, irrational, unintelligent, ignorant, non-understanding, and hateful they really are.

I enjoy myself enough to pay by annual sub year after year to do what I do in the game.

That is my measure of success.

I use the skills I acquire playing EVE to maintain my cell in D Block,
and to manage a working relationship with my cell mate, Irv.

I love imaginary activities with real world applications! Big smile

You seem to do that to yourself just fine, all on your own.

How very Machiavellian of you.

You realise two of the terms you listed there are rather ironically redundant right?
