Content Packs: CCP's Real-Money Transactions?

I've recently learned of these "Content Packs" that CCP has begun selling-for real cash.

As I recall, the INcarna riots of 2011 were triggered over those golden monocles which were being sold at outrageous prices.

As I recall, CCP swore they would never assume the path of real-money transactions, but these content packs look an awful lot like exactly that.

I'd like my fellow capsuleers thoughts on the matter.

Recommendations:

-enable ships wobbling in hangar view (pre-Captains Quarters)

-add more missions (NPC fleet vs. NPC fleets that actually shoot)

-STOP NERFING EVERYTHING!

You wouldn't be trying to manufacture a little outrage now, would you?

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

They are just the same sort of newbie package that has always been available for years and years and years.
Also incarna riots were not triggered over the Golden Monocles.

Well I gotta admit I was thinking the same thing as OP when I first took a look at them.

Then after come consideration, they provide a short leg-up for new alts or new players. It isn't anything that gives them an edge,
just a little fast forward to fun so I guess i'm ok with it.

If they ever....ever....start selling seasoned players "Skill Packs" or skill points to accelerate character development I'm going to get seriously jaded. Pay to win is a greasy model with an unhappy ending.

I know you can turn around and buy a toon with a zillion skill points, but unless you have been around enough you end up like a Ferrari driven buy a 15 year old. ( Off a cliff or around a pole. )

They are no different that bonus preorder content that many games come with, after several months the bonus is all but meaningless.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

No no no, this is a poor attempt at manufacturing an outrage , easily treated with simple laughing at

cams disease LOOKS SOMETHING LIKE THIS and requires considerable consistent and thorough training/trolling to address and even then has a high chance of relapse.

Nope, the summer of rage was triggered by many things, the $1000 pants post, Greed is Good, a flat dismissal of player concerns of p2w items being the next step and a refusal to address them, no opt out for the CQ and the wasting of months of development to deliver what was a dingy by the hour motel room that had a nasty habit of turning graphics cards into small furnaces with no gameplay options, etc, etc.

They did, then they gave us Incarna. We've settled for no p2w.

They're not p2w, any advantage they offer is temporary and restricted to new accounts.

I agree with th3 OP and think the trailers are funny also.

They should have just asked US to make the trailers like This Is Eve.

They should also sell VET content packs.
Few implants, some skins, a bonus remap, some hats or something. And Geckos

I thought my subscription was a real money transaction.

My bank balance will be all the better now if it isn't.

OP, RMT is not a term that applies to CCP, the same as it applies to us. They are perfectly within their rights to charge real money for their products and services. Just we aren't.

the "content" packs, oh come on, the career agents hand out more free stuff than any of the content packs give.

If you're listening, CCP, I'd gladly buy these. I have no sympathy for those who define "winning" as their number of skill points, i.e. limited purely by how long they have been playing a certain character. That definition of winning is an impossible bar to new players and can't be helping new player retention.

Many would, it doesn't make it a good idea unless they're looking to gouge their customers while they flush the game down the pan by turning into something that it is not.

Oooohhh the videos... eh. I have a "skirmisher", well, 5weeks training into breacher pilot like the breacher in the vid. No way in hell I'm throwing "skirmisher" my alt against a bunch of pirate faction ships. Dude, CCP, quit doing this false advertising junk to hook newbies on dreams. You'll just get commented on youtube by honest EVE players making you look like fools. Knock it off! EVE is good enough to not need all this false crud.

Yeah OP, I don't think it's right. I don't care about the package and cost, just the advertising (as CAM brought up) is over the top. Worse was like on the website with "bounty hunter career" couple years back, yeeaaaaaahh.... :/

Really, this game is good enough to not need to stretch the truth. Send your advertising team back to school, or into the corner with a dunce cone on their heads.

What are the levels of the skills in those packs? All I see is 5 euro for apparel.
