Freighter gank probability

I have a question and you seem to be the best bunch of people to do a little simple math for me Bear please Bear

With the changes to insurance payouts if you are CONCORDed....

How much stuff in ISK would have to be a in a freighter (lets say Charon) to make it worth ganking in highsec.

You are suing t2 fited whatever BS you you for this.... in any case...

What is the price line of goods in freighter to brake 0? Pirate

For simple math, you've left a lot of variables.

Alpha cains/tornado/maels? I'm aware you've said t2 fitted bs, but for the love of god just pick one and do some research.

What security system are you in so we can work out the concord timing?

Are they Solo? Could they have RR support? Are they moving or not?

These are all important questions, tell us this and I may actually do your math.

T2 Tornado:

45M + 40M in mods or so.
Assume half of the mods drop, so 65M per gank.

Now, it will likely take about 15 Tornados to drop a Freighter, Obelisks being the toughest, Fenrirs the weakest.

So, say an even Billion investment to blow a freighter.

If 2 Billion is in the cargo hold, half should drop, making it a break even for the gankers.


Personally, ever since the insurance nerf, I think ALL cargo should drop. Pods should drop implants as well.

Gankers are guaranteed to lose their ship to CONCORD, guaranteed to take a sec penatly, and guaranteed to lose insurance.
Getting a kill is not guaranteed - but why no guaranteed payoff with a successful kill? I call BS.

Erm, correct me if I'm wrong, but when a ship blows up, it goes KABOOOOOOOM!!!!! and there's fire n' stuff. Therefore there must be a chance for stuff to get damaged and get caught up in the initial KABOOOOOOOM!!!!! which is why it should never be a guaranteed 100% drop rate.

For Pods to drop implants, they'd probably have to change the mechanics of implants so that the user can remove them by choice too Big smile

Because Eve likes to tout that you can do anything you want, and be prepared to deal with it, every action has risks, you decided to cash in the other players risk of 'being blown up after undocking in hi-sec', why would you assume you should have no risk attached to this action?
